———- "Commander!" Someone called out to you causing you to turn rather abruptly. "Yes-?" You asked confused your brow raised slightly looking at the officer. "Cheif requested you attend the press conference with her to further keep Avatar Korra safe." The officer stated saluting to the you. "Alright, let her know I'll be there." You say before nodding them off and watching as they walk away before clapping and giggling to yourself. "Your really liking this commander role." A voice calls out making you roll your eyes. "Your just mad I'm better." You say turning with a hand on your hip to see Mako smiling at you. "Whatever you say, commander." Mako says nudging your shoulder making you smile as you two walk down the hallway. "Oh, and I need you to watch out for certain calls, something about air bending, alright?" You say making him nod.
"What about air bending, something wrong?" He ask and you shake your head. "Nah, at-least I think so, but if you get a call, report it to me immediately." You say before patting his back and turning the opposite way of the hall to grab your police car keys and your gear.
———- Minutes before the meeting you met up with Lin walking up to her. "Mo— Cheif.. I'm here." You catch yourself noticing she was talking to a reporter. "Right, just do your usual job, same old same, if it gets out of hand to you take pre-caution." You nod your head before saluting and walking away. You fix up the gloves on your hands and your hair, making sure all your weapons were in their hostlers then watching as reporters and people flood in to watch the scene unfold. You stood on the opposite side of where Lin stood an eyebrow raised as you waited for Korra to appear.
You stood and listened to the press. "Mr President, are you concerned that your approval ratings are now nearly as low as the Avatar's?" One of the reporters asked making you scrunch up your face in confusion. "Have you seen today's headline? It says "Raik-oh no. Polls pan pres' plans." When they said that you snorted slightly making Lin give you a look, signaling you to stop laughing because if you did she would too.
Suddenly you feel a gust and back up slightly looking up to see Korra landing with her glider. When Korra landed you nodded your head at her and she nodded her head back, something the two of you did when you meet during meetings or conferences. "Avatar Korra, few questions please!" One of the reporters calls out. "Avatar Korra, do you regret the way you handled the Unalaq Crisis?" One of the reporters ask and you sigh and roll your eyes in annoyance trying to keep your upright stance. "Why are you forcing the integration of spirits in Republic City?" Another asked and you scoffed, forcing was not the right word.
"Listen, I've been trying everything I can think of to get rid of these vines, but-" you eyes softened proud of her for growing with her public speaking skills but rolled your eyes when another Reporter calls out a question stopping her from speaking. "Look, Harmonic Convergence was just a couple weeks ago. I just needed a little more time to get everything back to normal." Korra said her voice hopeful. "The Avatar has put us all in a very difficult position, but my administration-" Raiko started to speak and you groaned slightly making the reporters turn their camera to you and you gave the camera a stern look making the reporters quickly turn it back to Korra. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I put you in a difficult position by fighting the giant force of pure evil that was going to destroy the whole world?" Korra asked before grabbing his chin and shaking his head. You held back your laugh alittle before clearing your throat and building a thin wall in the middle of the both of them making them both back up. "That's enough." Lin said sternly as you nodded.
Raiko storms back into his office, while the crowd mumbles. "This is a disaster." Korra says with a sigh. As the crowd dies down you walk up to Korra and nudge her hip with yours. "Calm down, it's not that bad." You say and she smiles at you softly. "N/n's right we'll figure something out" Asami said walking up to the two of you with a smile and you give her a hug. "Sami!!" You call out with a squeal before hugging her as she smiled hugging you back. "Why don't you get that excited to see me?" Korra asks with a hand on her hip jokingly. "Because I'm better~" Asami teases with a smile.
Korra rolls her eyes before her eyes widen and she realizes something. "Oh Pema invited you to dinner today" Korra says looking at you and Asami and you both blink at her. "Korra.. we talked about this.. stop looking at both of us when your asking a question generalized for one person." Asami says and you nod your head agressively. "Literally! Like I love you but stop that shit." You say and Korra laughs. "I was talking to both of you anyways" Korra sasses side eyeing the both of you.
"Alright, but let's go to my office first, I need to change my clothes." You say making them nod and follow you to your car. "Drive please-" you ask asami with an awkward smile on your face. "Don't you drive your own car?" Asami aske taking your keys and you nod with a awkward smile. "I mean... yeah— but I crashed— yeasterday.." you say with a awkward smile standing stiffly Infront of your car door as the two look at you with a look of disapproval. "Didn't you crash last week too?" Korra asks and you groan. "It was a bush, that dosent count." You whine before getting into the back seat.
—- Once you made it you walked into the front and the front desk waved at you and you waved back. As you walked through the hallway officers nodded and waved at you and you smiled and waved back. Korra and Asami looked at eachother before looking at your back and raising a brow. You opened up your office door which was also Lins office and smiled at her. "Hey mom." you whispered out making her look up and smile before nodding her head to Asami and Korra. "I'm going to a dinner." You whisper before grabbing your bag behind your desk.
Lin nods her head at you before shooing you away with her hand and smiling at you. You smile back and wave before walking out the room. "You and Lin are like the cutest." Asami says making you smile. "No really, she's always so chill and she never smiles, but she smiles at you-" Korra adds. "Maybe cause shes my mom, I don't know though." You say sarcastically with a laugh. ———
I kinda just wanted to make it know that I'm back so this is kinda like a teaser??? For the new book 😭 but I hope you liked this new chapter ❤️
