𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗡: 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡'𝗧 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗪

DIALING a number on the phone, Sophie sat on her bed as tears streamed down her face once again. After the varsity game, she had told Ellie that she couldn't hang out anymore. The entire time she had replayed the incident in the locker room in her mind and couldn't hold it together much longer. By the time she made it to her room, the tears had started once again.

"Hello?" The sound of Reggie's voice sounded through the phone causing a small smile to pull at Sophie's lips.

"Hey Reg. It's Sophie."

"Hey! We haven't talked in a while. How's Eden Hall?" The boy asked and the girl could tell there was a smile on his face.

"It's great but do you have some time to talk," Sophie asked as she sniffled and wiped under her eyes.

"Yeah, of course. I'm with the rest of the guys. Is it alright if they listen in?"

Sophie nodded her head before realizing the boy couldn't see her. She said yeah and within thirty seconds the four boys in Sunset Curve were listening to her recount everything that had happened since she had arrived in Minnesota. She told them about how Dean told her he loved her and then let the same day, how she met Scooter and Carter, how her and Kenny's friendship ended, and all the drama of being a hockey player at Eden Hall including everything that had happened since she spoke to Coach Orion outside the locker room.

The four boys allowed her to rant as they listened to her. They could easily tell she was crying and it made it difficult for them to sit there and do nothing. Luke looked between all of them, grabbing his notebook before writing something down in it. The three other boys looked down at it and nodded in agreement.

"I just, it feels so weird not being able to talk to Kenny anymore," the girl let a humorous laugh slip past her lips. "It's no big deal though. I'll be alright. I just have to live with it. God, I wonder what my father would say about this. He'd probably find a way to make it all my fault."

"Dad's suck," Reggie sighed as he slumped back into his chair. "Sometimes we could choose our own family. At least that way we know we're wanted."

"Hey, we're your family," Luke said as he wrapped an arm around the other boy's shoulders. "Both of you. The five of us are a family."

Sophie felt a smile slip onto her face at Luke's words, knowing that no matter what she had them in her corner. They may not see each other often but they were always there for each other. They were her always there for her when she needed cheering up like now.

They were a family that they built together.

At times it felt like her and Alex were the other three's parents, but she didn't mind. She had people who cared for her and would do anything to ensure she knew she was cared about. She would do the same for them anytime they needed it.

"I love you guys," Sophie said into the receiver as she wiped under her eyes yet again. "I miss you all so much. I wish I was there with you."

"We wish you were here too, Soph," Alex said as he laid across Luke and Reggie's laps. "When we finally get a record deal and go on tour, you're coming with us and we're showing you the world. You can be our roadie or whatever."

"Alex, I love you. I will be taking you all up on that. You can't back out now."

The four boys laughed at the girl's words, Luke looking around at the boys around him before looking down at his notebook. He began to scribble down words, catching Bobby's attention.
