"So then what's this piece?" Will asked, picking through the disassembled parts of his exo-suit with Endo.
They were in the control room, rather than the workshop, but since Endo was only working with one outfit, they decided it wasn't necessary to go down to the workshop level, where almost no one aside from Endo visited.
"Graphene tubing designed to protect the more delicate components in the gauntlet from melting," Endo answered.
If you had to ask the class who the smartest amongst them was, the unanimous answer would be Endo. Sen would probably jokingly say she was the mastermind behind all of Class 1-C's antics but that clearly didn't count. However, to the surprise of many, Will kept up with Endo in a way many couldn't.
Raised in America, Will's parents were both nuclear technicians and physicists and they taught him all they could, not just because of his own power set, but because of their work.
As such, Will was probably the only other person in the class that Endo could talk tech with. And recently, Will had asked Endo to go over every single piece of his armor so that he could better utilize its potential. He expected some mocking from Endo, but instead, the teenage boy seemed happy to help. Or at least as happy as Endo could seem.
"Is there no heat sink for the armor? Because the graphene isn't absorbing the heat, it's just slowly redirecting it out of the suit, venting it."
Endo thought for a moment. "A heat sink could be more efficient, but it would make the armor heavier and more power reliant, draining you faster, but allowing for more powerful discharges of your energy." He shrugged. "That decision is up to you."
"So boooooring!" Daidoji cried out. "I wanna do something!"
"Then move to the common area and stop disturbing our work," Endo snapped back. "I can focus with your blathering just fine, but at least give Will some space."
Will raised an eyebrow at that. It was the most compassion Endo had shown a classmate in... ever.
"I don't wanna play video games anymore!" She pouted like a toddler.
"Then swim, or play some sports with the rest of the team, or sleep, or eat, or do anything other than annoy us," Endo demanded.
"I want a mission!"
"Edgeshot assigns missions. Neither myself nor Will can do anything about that. Talk to Okami or Edgeshot directly if you're truly that bored. Maybe they can find some research for you to do."
"Excellent suggestion!" Okami applauded, having come up from sublevel 3 with Li and Adrian in tow. "The three of us were actually gonna head to Saturn Six in a bit using the tunnel system."
"What for?"
"I was hoping they'd have some data we could use to research and pinpoint locations that the Nomu were being bred. Ya know, like how much space or tech they need. Might be helpful for the future."
Endo nodded. "That is a good idea." He pulled a portable drive from his back pocket and flung it at Okami, who caught it without even blinking. "Tell Hina to copy anything we'd need to that. That way we don't have to keep going back and forth."
"Are we not connected to the Saturn Six mainframe?" Danji asked, sitting in front of the massive monitors, watching Battlefield Gamma as Class 1-B practiced.
"We are, but a good portion of the Saturn Six data is held on different servers to maintain secrecy. Not even our computers can access it without on-site permission from the company."
"Ah."
Okami turned to Dai. "Wanna come?"
She rolled her eyes. "I'd rather listen to the nerds talk about heat drains or whatever."
