My name is Y/N L/N. I was recently enlisted for a secret government agency. Here's how it went.
"My life turned upside down when the government found a duplicate Earth. I wish we had intergalactic superheroes or wizards to help us deal with the events that followed, but we didn't. Fortunately, a few of us were enlisted, because this so-called 'VALORANT protocol' was looking for individuals with specific talents or abilities. I promise I was the last person anyone could imagine joining this protocol."
I'm a soon-to-be agent from Australia. My special ability or talent? There really isn't one... I mean... that I know of. My interviewer mentioned something about moral support and maintaining team health levels? I'm not sure how that works, but I'm not complaining!
I'm not confident in my position yet, I kinda just applied without expecting to be accepted. At this time I really need the money so I figured I'd wait for a response. I'm going to be honest; I did not hesitate with applying. I didn't have much to leave behind. Yes, my family, but it's not like I'll never see them again... I think?
Only recently, I figured university wasn't working for me. All the studying and deadlines, it felt so empty and hollow, I really needed something else to look forward to. Some adventure, some friends, a hobby or two? Anything to fill the gap.
It's crazy, this agency just offered to fly me out to America; so now I'm in a silver, modern, jet; waiting for landing and first meeting with my new employers. The flight from Australia to America has been quite exhausting, but being the only passenger on this 5-star craft has given me undoubtable comfort (private bathroom and lots of snacks*). I still am not too sure why I was specifically chosen, or much about the company. But the promise of decent income, housing and benefits was too tempting for me, an awkward individual who is already struggling to find the right job and purpose.
"Buckle your seatbelt Miss L/N, we'll be landing in just a few moments now." A polite voice, from a flight attendant in front of me. She was wearing an elegant skirt and jacket, reminiscent of an office receptionist, however unlike any receptionist I've ever seen, she has bright aqua eyes. I could feel them bearing into my soul. "U-uh yeah I will," I respond, quickly fastening the two pieces around me. My teeth clamp down hard as I dread the landing. The attendant gives me a tight smile and nods, walking back through the jet.
I'm not scared of flying, but something about take off and touch down make me want to curl up in a ball and disappear. Maybe it's because I've watched plane crash investigation shows since my childhood, or because of the dizziness I always tend to feel when the angle of the plane isn't level.
When I eventually feel the jet touch down onto the runway, I grip the armrest hard, Button, my stuffed dinosaur plush squished in my other arm. I haven't done really well with this flight , but I'm not going to bother these fancy people with my fears.
"We've arrived Miss L/N, please slowly make your way out of the craft by following me." The attendant tells me, assisting me by carrying down my suitcase from the luggage holder above my seat.
I put on my pastel backpack quickly and awkwardly wobble over to her, trying to ignore my pins and needles.
"Hold on a moment while I open the door." The attendant says to me, I nod back to her and watch as she taps out a pattern on her watch. A beeping noise emerges from the door of the plane, before it slowly folds in on itself, allowing the crisp morning sun through to the interior of the jet.
Hey Y/N, this is the (kinda boring) start of the fanfic, I intend to allow the character *moments* with every agent, so feel free to request. Thanks for reading! ^^
