"I'm fine Link! Don't worry," Queen Zelda of Hyrule said for what seemed like the millionth time, laying a hand on his cheek, "I'm just going for a walk around Castle Town,"
King Link nodded, putting his hand over hers. They had been married for almost a year, and she continued to love him more each day, but ever since he had discovered she was pregnant eight months beforehand, he had been looking over her much more than necessary. She appreciated the support she was getting from him, but she also wanted some space to continue her life. Especially after they had returned to Castle Town. She wished to remain connected with her people,
"Just be careful, Zel. I know you think I'm being overprotective, and maybe you're right, but I have every reason to be," he said, smirking. She chuckled and walked away to get dressed.
She returned a few minutes later in a lavender dress that flowed around her. She sat down to fix her long, brown hair, but decided to leave the back down. Besides, it would be difficult to round it all up to braid with the bump she had. She put on the simple tiara Link had bought her a few months back.
He was waiting in the hallway when she exited. He smiled, looking her over,
"Beautiful, as always," he commented, winking at her. She blushed and smiled. He then kissed her,
"I love you," she said softly. He looked at her with love-filled eyes,
"As I love you," he said before crouching down, "That goes for you too! Now, you take care of our girl, little man. I'm counting on you," he kissed her stomach lightly,
"You don't know if they're a boy, Link," she commented again. He chuckled before adding,
"Well, if that's the case, then make sure to stay away from any boys. Just remember, they have cooties, and you don't want any of that. Remember that for as long as possible!" He said. Zelda laughed,
"I don't think she's got to worry about that yet,"
"Might as well prepare her now, because the minute cooties are no longer gross is when Ill need to get my sword," he joked, standing, "Have a good time,"
"Try not to burn down the castle while I'm gone," she teased. He stuck his tongue out at her,
"We'll see,"

Zelda sat on the edge of the fountain, throwing a stick for a dog. She had talked to quite a few people in the last hour she had been out, all of which congratulated her on her soon-to-be child. She soon found herself tired, though, and was forced to take a break.
The dog ran back and dropped the stick at her feet. She looked down at it for a minute,
"You couldn't just give it to me?" He asked it, petting it's head and bending down to grab the stick. A sharp pain went through her. She straightened up, and after a moment it eased,
"Whew. You don't like to be squished even a bit, do you?" She asked, placing a hand on her stomach. She then remembered the dog, who's tail looked like it was about to pop off its body from all the wagging. She chuckled and threw the stick again,
"Hey, majesty," A young girl, Quinn, said as she approached her. Quinn was an old friend of Link who had reappeared to help them in the fight against Dayfos. She didn't know much about her, but then again, they didn't talk much,
"Hello," she responded plesantly. Quinn brushed her bright pink bangs out of her eyes as she sat beside her. The dog came running back,
"They're fun to play with, arent they?"
"Yes. It's relaxing to me," Zelda said, looking down at the stick he had dropped at her feet again. She didn't want to bend down again. She sighed and leaned back, "So, what have you been up to? I haven't seen you around town in quite some time," she nodded,
"Yeah, I've been spending some time exploring Hyrule. I actually went back to Ordon for a short time,"
"Oh? How is everyone?" Zelda asked her. She had spend three years in Ordon, when Link had left. She grew love for everyone there, and it had hurt her to leave them. She had to return as princess, though,
"Great! The kids have grown up wonderfully. Though, Malo did get quite a bit of rupees off of me with those deals of his," she said, chuckling,
"Yeah, that sounds like him. What about Uli and-" she cringed as another shot of pain went through her,
"What's wrong?" Quinn asked, sounding worried. She placed a hand on her shoulder until it passed,
"I'm...not sure," Zelda said, catching her breath.
That's when she saw it.
A small puddle of water forming on the ground,
"I need Link and the doctor," she said, looking up at Quinn. She nodded and took off.

Link walked down the hall, nodding to the few stray guards he walked by. Then he stifled a groan as Sarth, the annoying man to assisted Royalty, approached,
"Good morning, King Link," he greeted him. He nodded,
"Morning," he replied simply,
"May I ask where the Queen has ventured off to?" He asked, shuffling some papers in his hands. Link sighed,
"Why?"
"As you see, there are several documents that require a royal oversee and signature," he explained, motioning to the stack. Link raised an eyebrow. How many papers could there possibly be,
"I'll do it, then," he said, taking them from him. Zelda deserved to have a day off now and then,
"Oh, um-I suppose-" Sarth stuttered, looking surprised,
"Great. See ya, Sarth," Link said, walking past him.
He hurried inside his room, closing the door behind him. Then, he threw the papers on the desk and flopped down on the bed. He'd do them later. For now, he was going to do one of the things he did best. Sleep.
~~
"Link! Link! For Goddess' sake, get up!" A voice said, shaking him,
"Hmm?" He muttered sleepily,
"Get up! Zelda's-"
"Zel..da?" He asked, opening his eyes and looking over at Quinn, who had a worried look in her eyes. He sat up quickly, and hit his head on the headboard, "Ow!" He rubbed his head, "What about Zelda?" He asked, more awake now,
"She's gone into labor!" His eyes grew wide,
"What?! When?"
"A few hours ago. I tried to get to you sooner, but those guards you have are stupid," she explained as he threw on his boots. He had stopped wearing his tunic and hat all the time, which cut his time in half. He rolled up the sleeves of the white shirt he had hastily thrown on,
"Oh goddesses, I got to go!" He said, running out the door. He hurried down the corridor. Of course Sarth was there. Did he even have a life?
"Sir Link, have you-?"
"No time for you," He said, pushing past him and running towards the entrance of the castle.
The guards started to question him, but he wasn't having it. He pushed past them as well.
He took off through the busy streets, making his way around people. It took him longer than it should have, but finally he made it into one of the smaller streets. He ran towards the doctors office.
Inside, he saw the curtains pulled around one area. He started forward but froze for a moment when he heard a scream. He rushed forward and went through the curtain.
Zelda was laying on a makeshift bed in obvious pain. Relief flooded her face as she saw him though. We went over to her side. The doctor barely looked up at him for a moment before resuming what he was doing. Luckily, they had requested and trained a different doctor than the one who usually worked there,
"You're here," Zelda said airily as she looked up at him,
"Always," he said, taking her hand,
"Good thing, too. It looks like it's going to be any minute now." The doctor said, "Ok, Miss Zelda. Let's get this done. We all know you're tired of the pain. Ready? Push!"
She closed her eyes tightly and gritted her teeth, and the grip on Link's hand tightened. He gently pulled her hair out of her face,
"Come on, Zel. You're doing great," he said. She gasped in a breath,
"Good, good. Give me another push!" The doctor said. She obeyed. Link stroked her hand, even though he was pretty sure he had lost circulation in his hand, "One more!" He heard him say. Zelda obliged, and a yell escaped her. Then, she took deep breaths and looked down at the doctor, face covered in sweat, but hopeful.
A loud cry rang out around the room. Links ear twitched, and he looked over at the doctor, who stood up after a minute with a bloody baby in his arms. Their baby,
"It's a boy," he said, tired but happy. Zelda smiled widely, tears streaming down her face,
"A boy," she repeated,
"Would you like to cut the cord?" He asked him. He looked over a Zelda for a moment, surprised, before getting up and walking over.
It was done quickly and then the child was cleaned up a bit and put in a blanket. Then, he returned and handed the baby to Zelda, who beamed. Link leaned over her and smiled,
"Hey bud," he said, extending his finger. The baby wrapped it's tiny hand around it, pulling it to him. His eyes opened slowly, and his bright blue orbs met Zelda's. Link smiled, and his own face became stained with tears,
"Our little Erick," she said, kissing his forehead.
