You shake out your arms and exhale through your mouth as small sparks shoot out from your finger tips. Frowning, you ball your hands and exit your room.

"Morning, (Y/n)." A voice calls as you enter the kitchen of Stark Towers.

You turn and find Steve sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading a newspaper.

Smirking, you pull out a bowl and cereal. "Still reading the newspaper, grandpa?"

You hear him chuckle. "How else would I know what's going on in the world?"

"It's called the internet?" You say, rolling your eyes as he scoffs.

"Right, Internet."

When you reach for the fridge, heat forms in your hand and launches into the metal doors.

Gasping, you stumble back. "Oh my god, Tony's gonna kill me."

Steve's at your side in a second. "Don't worry about it. He had everything refurbished into a fireproof material after you set the couch on fire."

You smile weakly. "Of course. How could I forget the couch incident?"

Steve opens his mouth to answer, when his phone chirps in his pocket. He holds up a finger and pulls out his iPhone, then stuffs it away once he's seen the screen. "We've gotta go. Another HYDRA base has been located."

Nodding, you two separate and run to your rooms to change. You emerge from your room wearing the deep blue catsuit, fireproof of course, and your hair tied back in a braid.

Steve exits his room a second later.

"Gotta keep up, old man." You say teasingly.

He smiles and shakes his head as you two fall in step together. "Okay, human torch."

Smacking his arm, you enter Stark Towers elevator and press garage.

"I told you not to call me that," You grumble, crossing your arms and giving him a side glance.

He frowns. "Really? Sorry, I guess I'm just too old to remember."

••••••••

"Why do all the bases have to be in the woods?" You grumble, trudging through the thick grass behind Steve.

He stops and holds out his hand for you to take. "C'mon, it's not much further."

Gratefully, you latch onto his hand and keep going.

Just then, Tony flies in and lands in front of the two of you. "Took you long enough,"

"What's the status on the base?" Steve asks.

"It's underground, thermal scans show that there's more men than the last base we took."

"Lead the way, Iron Man." You say, gesturing with your free hand forward.

Even from behind his suit, you could tell he's smirking. "Cute, Cap. What you and Human Torch here, have going on."

Holding up your hand, you flick a spark at Tony's suit. "Yeah? Show us where the base is, or Human Torch will light your suit on fire."

Tony chuckles before turning and blasting off into the air.
....

Once you've gotten to the base, disabled the security, and broke in, bullets were flying through the air as HYDRA agents kept pilling up.

"I think it's time (Y/n) does her thing!" Hawkeye yells over the noise, making you tense. You duck behind a wall and drop your guns.

Steve's voice comes in through the earpiece. "You okay with doing that, (Y/n)? If not, we'll keep fighting-"

"No," You mutter, closing your eyes and channeling your powers. "I've got this,"

"Be carful," Steve says.

You open your hands and flames erupt on your body. Turning to face the remaining HYDRA agents, you hold up your hands and shoot rays of fire. Instantly, they're knocked backwards.

"Okay, good to-" You gasp as the fires begin to spread up the walls and ceiling. When you clench your fist to kill the fire, the orange flames only grow. You see from the other side of the flames Steve and the rest of the Avengers emerging. They all bolt to the exit in front of them, but Steve stops and turns.

"C'mon, (Y/n)!" He roars, holding up his shield as parts of the ceiling begins to crumble.

You snap out of your daze and run towards him. "Go, I'll meet you outside!"

He shakes his head. "No, not without you!"

"Go!"

Steve hastily sprints out of the inferno, disappearing into the woods above. Just as you make it to the exit, the fire explodes. The explosions force shoves you forward, making your body fly out of the base and onto the dirt outside. Arms wrap around your body and pull you go your feet. You turn and smile at Steve.

"That was close-"

Steve's eyes widen, and you're on the floor in his arms in a second. Before you know what's happening, another explosion bursts through the doors of the base. You two are thrown into the open while the base collapses in on itself with a mighty crumble.

"Steve!" You cry, clutching your arm from where debris had cut you. Frantically, you stand and begin to search for Steve. The explosion sent parts of the walls and ceilings into the woods. Now, chunks of cement are thrown everywhere. "Steve!"

You spot Steve unconscious under a large cement slab.

"Oh my god!" You squeal, instantly running to him and begin clawing at the concrete. Rendering the idea useless, you wiggle next to Steve and put your hands up. Breathing in, you howl as fire shoots out from your hands and sends the wall forward.

You're quick to stand and look down at Steve. With tears in your eyes, you kiss his cheek and run a hand through his hair.

"Goodbye," You whisper, before backing away and blasting off into the sky.
...

It's been months since you've left SHIELD. Since you've left Steve. You've been hiding in a long forgotten safe house somewhere deep in a forest. Meaning, there shouldn't be a knock on your door at midnight.

Grabbing the closest weapon (a book) and tiptoeing to the door, you hold your breath as you throw the door open.

Immediately, you fling the book at the figure.

"Whoa, (Y/n)!" He yelped, holding up his hands.

You gasp and stumble backwards. "Steve?"

Steve steps into the light, a small smile on his lips. "(Y/n)."

Shaking your head, you hold up your hands. "Get away from me."

He frowns. "Why?"

"Because I'm dangerous,"

"No you're no,"

"How do you know that?"

"You've been gone for what, four months now? Don't tell me that you haven't learned to control your powers yet."

You lower your hands. "I still could loose control,"

Steve sighs and steps forward to engulf you in his arms. "I don't care. I can't loose you again,"

"I could hurt you-"

"I don't care, (Y/n)! Can't you see? I'm in love with you. My life has been a mess ever since you left."

You can't help but smile widely and wrap your arms around his neck. "Took you long enough, grandpa. And I love you too."

He chuckles and holds you back, smiling widely. "You don't know how long I've been wanting to hear that, human torch."
