Kuina didn't know how long she had fallen asleep for, but she was woken up again by the sound of rain and thunder. Itachi was no longer there, and the place where he had sat had long gone cold. It was still night, and the moon gave little company as the rain heavily fell outside the hideout.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up on her bed; as always, she found it hard to sleep with the rain and thunder. She sighed as she glanced at her clock. It was already five in the morning, so she decided it wouldn't be too bad to start her day early.

With that, she pushed herself off her bed as she made way for the door. But just as she was about to turn the knob, the door was pulled open from the otherside, jolting her wide awake. She looked up, her eyes meeting Itachi's, as he gave her a look of question.

"Can't sleep?" he questioned, his voice quiet, almost drowned out by the sound of the rain.

She shook her head as she glanced at him and noticed that he was holding a mug in his hand. He seemed to sense what she was looking at and he sighed softly as he waved for her to go sit back on her bed. She gave a small and tired nod as she headed back and plop down on the mattress. Itachi closed the door behind them as he flicked open the light.

He looked visibly worn as he walked over to her and stopped short before her. He seemed to contemplate something as if he didn't know what he should say to her. He opened his mouth to speak but then closed it again. A sigh parted his lips as glanced at her with a rather distressed look - the same countenance he wore when they had just returned from Konoha.

Kuina fidgeted with her thumbs, unsettled by his expression. He was normally very stoic, emotionless, and sometimes, even aloof. The expression he had right then was as if he was afraid.

She gulped as she allowed herself to glance up at him to meet his gaze. "Itachi," she spoke softly, breaking the silence for him. "If something's on your mind, you can always tell me," she muttered quietly.

At her words, he was snapped out of his trance and his brows furrowed. He let out another sigh as he carefully took a seat beside her. "Do I look that distressed to you?" he questioned beneath his breath.

Kuina looked down at her lap. "You've been looking distressed ever since we came back from Konoha. I-It's fine if you don't want to tell me what's on your mind, but you, acting so out of it, is worrying me. . ."

He looked up at her, and his eyes grew sombre. "Sorry. I just . . . I just haven't been getting much sleep these few days," he settled with the statement before he quickly cleared his throat to change the topic. He held out the mug he brought with him, and eyed it, beckoning her to take it.

Kuina blinked, not sure what it was, as she hesitantly took it from him. The warm cup felt nice in her cold palms as she bought the hot drink up to her lips. A waft of the sweet scent of honey filled her nose, bringing with it a nostalgia of the rainy nights when she was still in the hibiscus field.
