Kori sighs, running a hand through his hair. Admittedly, he has been blowing Lucas off, but he's just been worried about Zamir. He doesn't know if he's truly forgiven the boy yet, but he cares enough to say that the thought of Zamir's mom beating on him keeps him up at night.
I hope he's okay. He bites his lip, wondering. What if she hit him again? The only time he sees Zamir now is during school hours, and even then, they're only face-to-face during lunch. While he can get a good look at Zamir's face during that period, he can't get a grasp on his emotional well-being.
"Fuck," Kori groans, pulling out his phone and clicking on Zamir's contact. Before he can change his mind, he clicks the Call button. He doesn't even have the chance to plan out what he's going to say because...
