talia had been born of the sky people in a human form during the first battle against the na'vi.

although she couldn't be shipped back to earth in cryo, she was raised for the first several years of her life alongside the scientists that stayed on pandora.

then she found out her mother, an intelligent woman who worked beside grace augustine, had been working on an avatar for her daughter. she knew if her daughter was stuck on the planet, she would need it to survive.

so for years it grew, norm being entrusted to watch and nurture it until the right time came. which was talia's thirteenth birthday.

she was raised with spider, who got on her nerves quite frequently, but she never went with him to see the village. to be honest, it scared her.

but the day she got her avatar body, spider told her she had to come with him. spider was extremely jealous that his friend got to look like his other friends, but he'd get over it. eventually.

"talia, you have to come see everyone! especially with your avatar!" spider exclaimed, wanting all of his friends to meet.

still in human form, the girl replied, "no way. they don't like outsiders, remember?"

spider tugged on her hand, "please! they're really nice and funny, i promise!"

talia was still unsure. "maybe once I get used to the new body, spider." she shrugged him off, letting him sulk and leave for the omaticaya village by himself.

norm spoke up to the girl, having been eavesdropping the conversation. "you know, they're not as scary as you think. it would do you some good making more friends other than me."

talia stuck her tongue out at him, not saying anything back. why can't anyone accept that she'd rather be alone?

that night she slept with a heavy thought on her mind. maybe she should venture outside the safety of these walls? what's the worst that could happen? she might as well as put the avatar body to good use. perhaps she'd make friends, explore, and learn more about the world and it's cultures. but there was the daunting possibility of all the negatives that could happen. what if she wasn't accepted? also, she could die either from animals, inexperience or even at the hands of a na'vi. there were so many endless possibilities that it made her head spin, but eventually her introverted mind won this round.

she sighed, maybe one day.

FOUR YEARS LATER

talia stared at her avatar body that was resting in the opposite room through the glass window. lately, she's been wanting to take up spider's offer and meet the omaticaya clan, but she was nervous. being the introvert that she is, the thought alone sends a chill down her spine.

"get it together, you can do it. todays the day." she whispered to herself. the past few years had been excruciatingly lonely, so she finally wants to put herself out there. it's the action of following through that's the hard part.

without another thought, she put herself in her transfer machine and waits a minute. after closing her eyes, her yellow ones open.

stretching the longer, blue limbs, talia walks outside to start her adventure. but, she decides she should have some sort of self defense. running back inside, she grabs a small knife. now she was ready.

talia started following the path that spider usually took to see "the sully's". she had no idea who they were, but that's who he spent a majority of his time with.

even after having her avatar for years, walking through the forest always deemed a difficult task. she slipped and lost her footing a few too many times than she cared to admit.

after about thirty minutes, she finally began hearing voices. younger voices.

"bro, why'd you even bring her anyway?" a familiar voice echoed. talia froze after quickly hiding behind a tree. she kept listening.

"—i'll tell mom if you don't let me come." another voice spoke, she only caught the last end of the sentence but it sounded like another male.

she could hear them walk past her hiding spot, so she turned the corner to see if she could peek at the people. there, frolicking away from her, stood four— scratch that, three— na'vi kids. And one human. spider.

she felt a sigh of relief pass through her as it was her friend with them, but she still didn't want to make herself known yet. unfortunately, her tracks caught their attention.

"what is it?" someone asked.

"footsteps- it's too big for a human," a reply was heard, "maybe an avatar?"

talia gulped. shit, she needed to get out of there. she started backing up quietly and carefully in the opposite direction of the others.

her hands were shaking and her tail curled in on herself. just when she thought she was clear, she turned around the corner of a tree when someone jumped out at her.

"boo!" the mystery voice screamed, causing talia to jump back in fear. her heart was racing, this was it. she was going to be killed. and probably eaten.

"tuk! where did you go? damn, we lost her again." a further voice called out.

talia finally got a good look at who scared her, a little na'vi girl. presumably the 'tuk' someone was calling for.

"hi! did I scare you?" the sweet voice asked. talia nodded, "yeah, you did." she couldn't help but laugh quietly.

"are you tuk?" the older girl asked, the younger nodding and smiling. "great. do you think you can keep a secret? no one can know I'm here, okay?"

tuk crossed her arms. "what? but I want a new friend! why won't you be my friend?" her voice grew louder, making talia shush her.

"i'll be your friend! but friends keep secrets. so you can't tell anyone about me, does that make sense, tuk?" talia was praying to the pandora god that she agreed.

it felt like a lifetime as tuk stood there, contemplating on yelling for her brother and sister to the newcomer. but she just tilted her head, "okay. i'll keep your secret. thanks for being my friend!"

talia released the nervous breath she'd been holding as tuk waved goodbye and went back to her group. she thought the girl was adorable, but was nervous she'd tell someone about her despite her promise.

"tuk! there you are! you can't just run off!"

"sorry, i saw something really cool." Tuk replied as she skipped away.

talia started backing up, turning around just to run into something hard. what the... she thought. looking up, her eyes widened.

shit.
