As if Tanjiro's pleas were answered, Y/N's sword stopped, it stopped. The mist that surrounded the group slowly started to distintegrate, giving the air a damper smell than before.

He looked at her with horror as he could see her rose blade wobbling, mear inches from killing Nezuko, his sister, her friend.

The emotion in Y/N's eyes returned, she seemed mortified by her actions, dropping her sword onto the ground. Nezuko's innocent demeanor shattered her heart into pieces. She stood there, her eyes were filled with kindness, filled with compassion.

Was she just about to kill her?!

What- what the fuck was I doing?! The demon! Where the-- where's that shit?!

She glanced hasitly around, meeting Tanjiro's gaze. His body was trembling, he was sweating. His clothing on his arm was ripped and wet with blood. He stared at Y/N, exhausted and terrified.

The expression made her heart turn to dust. Her throat painfully constricted,
he wasn't supposed to look at her in that way.

What the hell happened?!

Out of the blue, as if hit by a tidal wave, nasuea gripped Y/N. Her knees unwillingly gave out, every part of her body painfully ached, she could barely breathe. She knew this was the affects of her subconsious breathing, but what was she fighting if the demon wasn't here?

"T-Tanjiro." She rasped out, trying to get up and stablize herself. "What happened?" Nezuko tenderly helped Y/N stand, supporting half of her body weight. A guilt tore through her conscious, like sharp spiky mallets playing ping pong in her ribcage.

Stop. You don't even know where the demon is. How do you know you were trying to kill her?

Tanjiro's mouth was agape, soundless. He knew he should've felt relived that Y/N was okay, that she was back to normal. But he was still reeling in horror of his little sister almost dying by her hands.

Why is he staring at me as if I'm a murderer?! Please! What happened?!

"Tanjiro?" Y/N asked gently, making sure to mask her panic in case he wasn't in the best mental state.

His eyes drooped in relief, letting out a much needed sigh. It was soothing to hear her gentle voice, he was happy she was back to normal.

"I-- I don't know exactly for sure. But you were attacking me. I... I think you were using subconscious breathing? Either that or it might have been the demon, because for whatever reason, I... I couldn't reach out to you..."

Dread setteled in the bottom of her stomach. The wounds Tanjiro had, the gash on his arm, the bruises, the cuts, her sword inches away from eradicating Nezuko...

it was her fault. Y/N had tried to kill them.

"I... I tried to kill you..?" She said in disbelief, staring at her hands with a disgusted look.

Tanjiro was silent.

"I..." he trailed off, glancing off to the side. His gaze trailed up to the gash that was in the tree where her sword chopped into.

Tanjiro's hesitation brought a bitter taste in Y/N's mouth. The pain in her chest tenfolded, relentleslly twisting her insides. She curled up her hand so tight that her nails tore through skin, making it sting.

And here... here I thought I could do something, I could be his friend. He was-- oh my god he was so kind to me! He is kind to me! And this is how I repay him?! Trying to fucking kill him?! What a useless piece of shit--!
