Chapter 34

I had a great time dancing. Way more than I would have thought actually. Astéria was an incredible dancer as expected and I could completely let go in her arms. I didn't know it could be so comfortable letting go. It was so nice that I didn't even mind the judgmental glares but what I wasn't expecting was that others would join us. While the elders stared at us with disdainful looks, younger people let themselves go and soon more and more same sex partners found their way to the dance floor. It wasn't every young person of course because there were people who hated Astéria and there were people who were scared of their parents' reaction but quite a lot of people came to the dancefloor. Those who came were mostly girls and mostly my friends from the tea party. Saber was of course one of them and while guiding another girl, she came dancing close to us and complemented our technique. She couldn't stay close to us for much longer and twirled away as I smiled at Astéria:

"It is especially your technique that is incredible."

Astéria seemed to be blushing but it could have just been her feeling hot because of the exercise:

"I am flattered hearing this from you but I by far prefer your dancing.

-Don't lie. I almost stepped on your feet a thousand times.

-I would never lie to you. You are the best partner I ever had. It is very easy and comfortable guiding you.

-Well, thank you. Where did you learn to guide so well?

-I practiced a lot by myself.

-So you have never tried it with anyone before?

-No, you are my first.

-Then I am honored to be your first."

Seeing my smile, Astéria looked away for some reason. We continued dancing for a few more minutes and bowed when the music came to an end. People seemed to have had a lot of fun and looking at the first prince, he seemed to be happy too for the first time during the whole night. It looked like he was looking forward to going back to his room but when he heard about what had happened from his attendant, he started relaxing a bit. I liked seeing him like that and felt like Sverre was a good person. I did well putting so much effort into his gift and I wished him to be happy.

Astéria seemed to be ready to dance more but I started getting worried about Orange. She still didn't come back and I wondered where she was. I had fun with Astéria but Orange was the one I wanted to see most. Fortunately, I soon found her again and immediately asked her to the dance floor. Now that I had found her, she was the person I wanted to dance with most. Orange accepted immediately and I grabbed her hand before pulling her to the dance floor, almost running. I was overjoyed and was ready to guide her, Orange placing her hands on my shoulders as usual. We danced together for a whole song and laughed lightly. I felt completely relaxed. As if I was finally where I needed to be. But at the end of the song, wanting to dance more, we stayed on the dancefloor. I was ready to guide her again as usual but stopped at the last second.

"Is something the matter?"

I tilted my head:

"Would you mind guiding me this time?"

Orange shook her head but couldn't hide her surprise. I was the one guiding usually so why did I suddenly change my mind?

"I danced with Astéria before and she guided me. It was really nice and she is really good but I want you to be the one guiding me and not her."

I didn't know why but I wanted Orange to erase the mark Astéria left on me. Hearing my sentence, Orange blushed and gently took my hand before rubbing my palm with her thumb:
