The best day of the week finally arrives, and it just so happens that today is also paired with the best weather of a clear sky and a beaming sun. As usual, once you get your much needed paycheck every Friday, you immediately spend it at your favorite store that sells sundry items ranging from cute flower vases to various keychains.

The bell chimes in farewell when you exit the store, waving goodbye to the man as you head back to your shared apartment. Although your boyfriend almost always has the same (negative) response to your purchases, you're still excited to show him today's buys anyway.

And he must feel the same for today too, because he's home earlier than usual and standing right outside the door with his hands on his hips, his red gaze already focused on the many bags you're holding.

"You're finally back! I better not see another muddy-colored item in that bag, you hear me?" he scolds, eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Here, let me help you with half," he offers as he takes three of the bags from your hand, nudging the door open with his foot.

Once settled inside, you put the other three bags onto the coffee table in the living room. Plopping onto the couch, you take a moment to relax for a bit, stretching your legs and arms out. The blonde-haired male comes back from the kitchen and sits beside you, handing you a cup of your favorite drink.

"Thanks, Kav." You smile warmly and take the cup, drinking it slowly as you glance at him.

Kaveh is already staring at you, his face serious, almost unamused. It's as if he already knew immediately from before what the answer was going to be when he mentioned about the dangerous, muddy-colored item.

"That glance... oh no..." His elbows are resting on his knees as he's bending over slightly, a hand to his forehead. "Do I really want to look inside these bags...?"

"It's not as bad as that glass cup, I swear," you assure him with a pat on his shoulder, gesturing for him to examine the first bag.

He doesn't look convinced whatsoever as he sighs once more, giving in and looking inside the first few bags; there are some mini flower pots, all brightly-colored with a lot of random designs (a bit too much to his liking...); a set of utensils with shaped toppers attached to them; a variety of colored cups; and some hanging decorations of butterflies and flowers.

Sure, the designs on the mini pots are a little too overboard, and perhaps some of the toppers on the utensils are rather peculiar (a toilet, for one), but overall, you'd say these first set of items aren't too awful in terms of aesthetics.

Kaveh picks up one of the hanging decorations and shakes his head from side to side, essentially saying, "it's okay," or "meh," which is viewed as a pretty neutral response coming from him.

You then bring the last three bags over to him, putting them between you two as you give him a knowing smile. His lips twitch a bit as he reaches into the next two bags: kitchen towels with inspirational quotes on them, a boiled egg maker, several empty clear containers of varying sizes, many packs of stickers, three coloring books, candles, and an easy do-it-yourself bracelet maker.

"Huh? More candles...? We haven't even made a dent in the first set you bought, you know..." He picks up one of the candles, reading the label. "And I'm pretty sure we have ten of this same scent stored away."

You quickly add in a, "Now eleven," as to which he quietly nods at with a forced smile. He appears to be a little disappointed in your candle purchases, which you can't blame him with since the first set you bought consists of thirty candles...

Without wasting anymore time, he reaches into the last bag to take out a (surprise, surprise) muddy-colored painting frame that has oddly placed red markings in some areas. Kaveh closes his eyes, tightly gripping onto the frame as he exhales slowly.

"Please, explain to me, (Y/N)..." he trails off, "...what in Teyvat were you thinking when you saw this ugly piece?"

You smile, remembering why you decided to buy that item. "I was thinking about you," you reply simply.

"Wha—excuse me?!" Kaveh stands up, still holding onto the painting frame.

"Well, you talked about needing a frame for a new painting you bought a week ago. Plus, the red marks matches your cape perfectly, and I just had to buy it because the frame reminded me of you so much," you explain.

Your boyfriend's eyes widen as his lips part open. It looks like he's struggling to form his thoughts properly as his mouth ends up closing completely after faltering for a bit.

You rub the back of your head, averting your gaze to the scattered items on the table. "It's okay if you don't want to use it for the painting. I can return—"

Kaveh interrupts you, "No no no! I... I'll use it for the painting, so don't return it."

His face flushes as he smiles faintly, hugging the horrendous painting frame against his chest. Leaning down, he kisses the top of your head gently and runs his fingers through your hair, his gaze softening as he looks down at you.

"Your tastes in aesthetics may be outright awful, but... I guess I don't mind it too much."

Kaveh's empathy is one of my favorite things about him. He's definitely the guy who would rush to you at 3 AM when you're in need of help or comfort.
