~Chapter 12~

{Shinya's POV}
Elle came bursting into the hospital room. her heals clicking on the floor. I untangled myself from Akane and got off the bed. "Good Morning Mr. Kogami, looks like you slept well last night. You know you do have a place of your own to sleep." she said rolling her eyes in disgust,"We need to see how good you are in the field so we can rely on you when we start rebelling. Meet me in my office in ten minutes" she said as she swung the door open and clicked her heals out of the room. I put my leather boots on and made the bed, tucking Akane back into bed. I lightly kissed her forehead and walked out of the room.
The hallway smelled of cleaner and there was a bad draft. There was a whistling howl that resonated in hall. My steps echoed as I walked. I came to a stop outside Elle's office. I took in a deep breath and swung open the door.
Her office smelled of coffee. She sat at her desk looking at some kind of folder. "We have to go to our outside facilities to do all of your tests, so go have some breakfast and meet up with all the other troops. Only the operation workers who are keeping an eye on sibyl will stay here, everyone else is leaving" she said still looking down at her papers. I turned around and opened the door. I headed to the noisy cafeteria, rice and vegetables was what I decided to eat for breakfast. All the troops were all around there 20's or early 30's so it was all good. Some were playing cards and gambling and some where just relaxing against the wall.
I sat down at an empty table and pulled out a note pad from my pocket, along with a pen. I felt like a teenage girl expressing my feelings in a diary. But I had to sort out my feelings for Akane. Leave her a note for if I die. Give her some kind of understanding and my feelings for her. This world is a cruel place and death is something that's so common, life is fragile and can never be fixed once it's fully broken. When life is threatened it is like a crack in glass, you can patch the glass and reinforce the glass but once the glass has shattered it can never be put back together again.
I finished my meal and sat against the wall. It took me only a few seconds to realize that I was the only one in all the troops who wasn't in uniform. Everyone was wearing a gray v neck shirts and navy pants. I sat in my jeans and v neck shirt,
Elle came clicking into the cafeteria and everyone rose and saluted her. She was carrying folded laundry, which she through at me. "Go change" she said I a bitter tone. I went in the bathroom and changed my clothes into the uniform. I carried my clothes and shoes with me to mine and Akane's living corders. I plopped them down on the desk and walked back to the cafeteria in my socks. When I went into the cafeteria Elle threw tan combat boots at me, they missed and hit the wall. I looked at her and at the shoes. I put them on and she ordered for is to head out. We of course walked while she and some other generals rode in a jeep. It was about a mile and a half to the out door testing facility.
Once we got there I was the only one who was being tested. First was physical combat, I of course was cleared after knocking 3 approaching solders on there backs, dislocating one of the soldiers shoulders. The next test was guns, close range, far range and sniping. I was good at close range. Far range was okay, I missed a few times. But my sniping skills where what I practiced in America, I shot in a range that was about 1,250 meters long and hit every target.
And that was it, that was all Elle cared about. We headed back to the base, I was excited to get to see Akane. It had only been a few hours but I missed her. It makes me angry to soften my heart and be weak. But I really love Akane and softening up is the only way for love to make it through. I was so set on killing Makishima I blocked out everyone around me. Anybody who gave a crap about me being around. Now that I killed Makishima I realized this.
We got back to the base and had lunch. Once lunch was over we had a few hours before we had cardio. I walked down to the medical wing. Once I got there I saw the empty bed. The wheelchair still against the wall.
"Akane?" I said, no one was around. The doctors and nurses were also solders and went along with us, so no one was around to see where she went.
"Akane?" I said in a more desperate tone.
"Why won't you-" I was cut off by a nurse.
"Where is she?" The frantic nurse in uniform said. "Your bet is as good as mine, she isn't in here... but she has to be in the base somewhere right?" I said. " Well Mrs.Tsunemori was in no condition to be walking... her stitches were almost closed but she's pumped full of meds that make her body feel like jello. So yes Mr. Kogami she is probably in the base somewhere, I have some other patients to take care of so if you could go look around that would be great" she said. I was already leaving as soon as he said somewhere.
