Chapter Thirty One

Three months later.

"Babe." Alec says walking in holding Eli. "What time do we have to be at your parents house?" He asks, Alec had put Eli's blue jean shorts on with a white Ralph Lauren shirt. "In about two hours." I say looking at the watch on my wrist. I was in the middle of changing Colton's diaper. I looked down at his eyes, they were a mixture of grey and blue, he has light brown hair, fair skin and rosy cheeks. He looked like a china doll. Chloe was just as beautiful, she has light brown hair and bright blue eyes, she has fair skin and flushed red cheeks. She laid peacefully asleep in her cot, snoring peacefully. "Are the boys even ready?" I ask Alec, he smiles. "Yeah, Theo, Jett and Cooper are all ready and in the living room." Alec says sitting on the bed with Eli on his lap. I look over at Eli, he looked like a mini Alec. I smiled "What?" Alec says. "I can't believe how big he's got." I say with a proud smile. "That's my boy." Alec says snuggling in to him.

I carry Colton over to his bouncing chair. "I'll grab the car seats." I say smiling as I walk out the room.

Downstairs Jett, Cooper and Theo sat in front of the TV playing mario kart on the nintendo Wii. "You all look nice." I say with a smile. "Thanks." They all say. "When are we leaving?" Jett asks. "Soon." I say with a smile, I grab the twins chairs, Eli's was already in the car. "We'll be down soon." I say with a smile. I run up the stairs carrying the two car seats up with me.

I walked in to the bedroom Alec sat having a conversation with Eli. "That's your little brother Colton and sister Chloe. You've got another brother, you know Jett right?" Alec says to Eli, he responds by giving Alec a big smile, showing his two small rice grains of teeth. "I thought so." Alec says nodding his head. Colton Coos and I walk in with the bedroom holding the car seats. I decide to change their diapers again, I start with Colton since he was awake, I pull down his jean shorts and I undo his vest, I quickly change his diaper and then I put a clean one on him, I do his vest back and then I pull his shorts up. I place him in to his car seat and I strap him in. "I'll start getting them in the car." Alec says standing up. He lifts Eli with one arm and grabs Colton's seat with the other. He kisses my cheek and then walks out the room. I walk over to my sleeping princess and I lift her in to my arms, she blinks her long eye lashes adjusting them to the light, she opens her eyes. "Hello Princess." I say to her smiling, I walk over to the changing mat and quickly I change her diaper. She looks up at the spinning mobile toy above her head, it was like I could see her little eyes trying to fix the pieces together like a jigsaw, after I was done, I carried her to her car seat, I walked out the room with her seat in my hand, I carried her down the stairs and out the door, locking it behind me. Alec waited by the door, he took Chloe's seat out of my hands. "Hello liddol princess." Alec says in a baby way giving her eskimo kisses. I smile and I climb in the front seat, Alec secures her in side and shuts the door, he climbs in the front and we start the drive to my parents house. "Did you pick up the present off the table?" I ask Alec, he smiles and nods. "Sure did. Jett did you bring Grandpa's birthday present?" Alec asks him. "Sure did." Jett says with a smile.

We pull up outside my parents house, a few cars were parked outside. I spotted my Aunt Brenda's car and a few others. Alec parked the car and we began climbing out. Alec undone their car seats and lifted Eli out of his. I took Chloe, Jett, Cooper and Theo jumped out the car. I took Theo's hand, Jett and Cooper walked ahead. Jett and Cooper walked up the stairs "Balloons." Theo calls pointing at the balloons which were on the door. Jett knocked on it, holding the present in his hand. Jordan opened the door. He lifted Jett up in to his arms. "Uncle Jordan." Jett says smiling happily. "Hello buddy." Jordan says carrying him in to the house. We followed him in to the house, my mom had balloons and banners everywhere, we walked in to the living room. "Olivia's here." My mom says with a smile "Hey." I say walking in, Alec puts Eli down in his playpen, he was surrounded those toys that sing and make noises. He banged about with them. "Can I hold her?" My aunt Brenda asks, I smile. "Sure." I unbuckle Chloe from her car seat and I lift her out. I hand her to my aunt. "Whens Bolt getting here?" I ask. "Soon." She says with a happy smile. I look over at Alec who by now was walking around carrying Colton. "Where's Dad?" I ask Jordan as he walks out carrying a tray of beers. "Gone to get Grandma and Grandpa. We done all this while he was gone." Jordan says with a smile, the door bell goes. "I'll get it." I say walking out the room. I pull the door open, there stood Lynx, Spencer, Bolton, Hailey, Aubury, Tammy and Bree. They all smiled happily, I stood aside and allowed them in. "Alright squirt, where's the tribe?" Bolton asks as he walks in the house carrying Aubury. "In the living room." I say. "Hi." I say greeting everyone as they walk in. They say hello back, I close the door quickly and then I follow them in to the living room. Bolton had put Aubury inside the play pen with Eli, she played with the toys. The door bell rung again. "I'll get it." I say once again. I walked out the room pulling the door open. My dad's brother aka Uncle Robert, he smiled as he stood next to his wife Trisha, they had children but they were much older. "Ah Olivia how long has it been?" He says with a happy smile. "I'm all grown up now." I say with a small smile. "So I've heard, I can't wait to meet your family." My uncle says walking inside. Trisha held his hand as they walked in together. I closed the door and I headed in the living room once again. Jett had gone in the garden with Cooper while Theo was sitting on the sofa with Hailey. I walked over to Brenda and I lifted Chloe out of her arms. "I thought I could keep her for ever." She coos, I smile "Someone needs a change." I say. I walk out of the room and up the stairs, I heard footsteps behind me, I knew they were Alec's. I headed to my mom and dad's room, Alec followed behind me. He held Eli and Colton. "Boys needed changing." He says with a smile. I smile back at him and I begin to change Chloe, once I was done I changed Colton while Alec changed Eli. "Babe." Alec says as he holds Chloe and Eli. "Yeah." I say holding Colton. "Don't you think the boys deserve a holiday. I was thinking Florida." Alec says shrugging his shoulders. "Sounds lovely." I say with a smile. I hear the doorbell ring and the door open. "Kieran?" Jordan says. I smile and I carry Colton down the stairs with Alec trailing behind me. Kieran and I had been speaking, I knew he was getting better and as soon as he was he would be released, next to him a thin dark haired lady stood, she wore a formal/business like top and skirt. "I stopped by your house Liv, they said you'll be here." Kieran says with a smile. "Are you out for good now?" I ask. Kieran nods "Thanks to Alec." He says. "Huh?" I say looking at Alec who simply smiles. "They wasn't going to release me because I had no fixed address, but Alec sorted a small house big enough for me and the boys not to far away. Um. This is a social worker, she knows the circumstances and she's just here to help. I guess." Kieran says with a uneasy smile. "It's great to see you better." I say with a smile. "The boys are through here." I say leading them inside. Alec closes the door while we head in to the living room. "Dadda!" Theo called running towards him. Kieran smiled and lifted him up. Cooper came in followed by Jett. "Dad." He calls running towards Kieran, Kieran kneels down and hugs him. "Good to see you better bro." Bolton says with a smile. "If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here." Kieran says putting down Theo, he hugs Bolton. "It wasn't just me." Bolton says with a smile. "That I know." He turns around and faces me. "Liv I owe you alot, you took my boys in, you saved me." Kieran says smiling. "Are you here to take us home?" Cooper asks looking up at Kieran, he smiles and nods his head. "Sure am kid." He says lifting him up. My mom smiles. "It's great to see you better." She says. Kieran smiles. "I better be going, tell pete I said happy birthday." He takes Theo's hand, the lady follows behind him. I hear the door close, I look over at Alec, he smiles. I put Colton in his bouncing chair. "Now who am I gonna play with?" Jett sighs as he sits on the sofa. "You'll see him soon, plus we're going on holiday soon." I whisper. Jett smiles "Okay mommy, when's grandpa going to be here?" Jett asks me, I look up at the clock, it was nearly 6oclock. "Mom when did dad leave?" I ask her. "A few hours ago." My mom says in an uneasy tone. I look over at Alec who was staring down at Chloe, the house phone begun to ring, everyone looked busy so I answered. "Hello." I say. "Hello is this the home of Peter Carter?" A person asks. I begin to panic. "Yes whose calling?" I ask. "I'm Officer Johnson, I've been called to a car crash scene, both drivers are in hospital, but I was searching the car and I found this phone, who is Mr Carter to you?" Officer Johnson asks. "He's my father." I say, my voice breaking, by now all eyes were on me. "I'm going to need only his immediate family here, he's going in to theater now." The officer says. "Okay, see you soon." I say putting down the phone. "Babe, What's wrong?" Alec asks me, everyone was looking at me. "It's Dad. He's been in a car crash." I say trembling.

"Is he okay." My mom says as we climb in Alec's car driving to the hospital. "I don't know." I sob. "Calm down." Alec says softly putting one hand on his, his other on the steering wheel.

We rushed into the hospital. "He's in theater." I say pointing to the sign, we quickly ran in the direction, Alec pushed the doors open. A police man stood waiting inside, I presumed it was officer Johnson. "Officer Johnson." I say walking towards you. "Are you the Carters?" He asks. "I'm his wife, Brenda Carter, this is my daughter Olivia Royal and her husband Alec Royal." My mom says to him. "What happened Officer?" Alec asks. "A witness who saw the incident saw a drunk driver skip a red light and hit your husbands car." The police man says. "Will he be okay?" My mom asks. "He's still in theater, we will know as soon as he is out." The officer says. "And the other man? The drunk driver." Alec says. "We'll make sure he's charged." The officer says. "Thank you." My mom says. "We'll be sure to keep you posted." The officer says walking out. "I better call home, check on the kids." I say grabbing my phone dialing the home number "Hello." I say, the house was silent. "What's going on liv?" Jordan asks worried. "Dad's in theater, he was hit by a drunk driver." I say "Shit." Jordan exclaims. "What's going to happen?" He asks worried. "I don't know Jord." I say. "Jett is asleep in my bed, the twins are asleep in their chairs and Eli and Aubury are asleep in the travel cot." Jordan says. "Okay, Thanks Jordan." I say. "Keep me posted." Jordan says. "I will." I say putting down the phone. I take a seat in between my mom and Alec. "Some birthday." My mom sobs. "He's going to be fine." Alec says with a smile.

I had fallen asleep where I had been waiting so long, I heard someone clearing their throat. I wake up. A surgeon stood there in a blue gown. I shake my mom and Alec. They both wake up. "The surgery went well, Mr Carter should be out soon, he has broken three ribs and two bones in his leg. Unfortunately we had to induce him in to a coma, due to the pressure on his brain, hopefully he'll wake up soon." The surgeon says. "Oh god." My mom cries. The double doors open and nurses are around a bed wheeling it in to a room, I noticed my dad's face, battered and bruised. My mom follows them in to the room where he was allocated, I waited with Alec, he hugs me. "You go ahead, go be with your dad, I'll call home and tell Jordan." Alec says kissing me. I kiss him back "Thank you." I say with a smile.

In the room, my dad was hooked up to the beeping machines, my mom sat next to him holding his hand, she stared at him. "He looks like he's been in a fight." She chuckles sadly. I sit on the chair which was next to her. "He was all alone." My mom says sadly. "He thought we all forgot about his birthday." She sighs. "Don't be so hard on yourself mom." I say sighing. She lets go of his hand and looks at me. "Why shouldn't I be?" She looked broken. Alec walked in the room. "Jordan and Kassie are on there way down, the kids are at home with Bolton and the rest." Alec says walking towards me, he stands next to my chair and puts his arm around me, I snuggle in to his thigh. 30 minutes later Kassie and Jordan walked in. "Dad." Kassie cried running towards him. Jordan looks over at him his eyes teared. "Be strong." Alec says throwing his arm around Jordan, he sniffs and then straightens up. "What did the doctors say?" Jordan asks. "Your dad's in a coma, he's broken three of his ribs and two bones in his leg." My mom says. Kassie sobs next to him. Alec squeezes my hand reassuringly, I look up at him. "Jordan and Kassie, you've got to go, you have school in the morning." My mom says looking at them. "But mom." Jordan says. "No buts, come on, it's late." My mom says. "I'll drive you." Alec says taking his keys out his pocket. They both kissed my dad's head and they walked out.

Mom and I were sitting by his bed. "Do you remember when Olivia and Jordan were little, they were so close." My mom says talking to my dad, I lay my head on his bed, closing my eyes, dreaming of when I will wake up from this nightmare I call life.
