Mother Dear

Mother dear, I've been lost lately
Both fearless and foolish.
I tear through life recklessly
And I'm longing for your forehead kiss.

I gave my heart away
But I ask for something that cannot be taken
So here in my room I lay,
Asking myself what in me has broken.

Oh how I long to run away
And fall into your warm embrace
And feel your warmth again
All curled up and protected.

Oh mother dear, I've felt heavy lately.
I'm afraid I'm flying too high
With wings of wax
Which will soon melt away.

Oh how I'm filled with dread,
That I'll fall down to my death.
Oh how I'm filled with delight,
With the wind against my face.

Oh how I'm filled with dread
That I'll fall down to my death
Oh how I'm filled with relief
That it'll all soon end
