" It had already been three months since the battle had happened.
Three months since I had been shot. Three months since Tríton and I kissed for the first time. Three months since myself and my family finally felt like we belonged in the Metkayina clan. Time flies fast, sort of like a dream."
The breeze made Koäna's hair flow gently behind her as she watched the sunset. She felt like a new person at that moment. She now had a tattoo covering her side, where she had been struck down, and her hair was assorted with shells and braids and curly unlike her old hair which had beads and was straight. It brought surprise to everyone when they saw the girl with her new look. She truly looked like she belonged in the sea people's clan.
Neteyam and Kiri stood on both of her sides with Lo'ak beside Kiri and Tuk beside Neteyam, holding his hand tightly. Koänä squeezed Kiri's hand gently as the five watched Norm and Max fly off into the sky with Spider. The boy had returned back to the village with them after the battle, but everyone knew he could not stay. He was human after all. It broke Kiri's heart a little bit but her family, Tsireya, Ao'nung, and Rotxo did everything to help get her mind off of it.

" At first, it didn't feel right. It still felt like we were supposed to be in the forest with grandmother. My parents had brought it up a couple of times during the months that we should return home, that it would feel right to be back in the forest with grandmother. At first, that decision almost felt right, but all of us knew the forest was no longer our home. The sea had become our home now and we were quick to learn to live with that."
" Koänä, will you please just listen to us-" Neytiri calmly tried to shush her daughter. She grabbed Koänä's arm gently but her daughter ripped the arm away with an angry look on her face.
" No!" She shouted at her parents. They both had looked very taken back by her sudden raise in tone. Their oldest was never one to raise her voice at them. " You both made us come here. We fought with these people and we learned to love these people! You cannot take that away from us because of the past! The forest is no longer where we belong, mother! We belong here!"
Jake looked at all of his kids with a tiny frown stuck on his face. Deep down, like very deep down, he knew that the forest would never feel the same as long as Tarsem was the Ole'eyktan, but there would always be that small twinge of hope that one day they could return back to the forest and live like they had never left.
" She's right." Kiri brought up her agreement, looking up from her lap. " We don't belong there anymore."
" I mean look at Koä. She's all Metkayina now." Lo'ak tried to defuse the tension of the group with his small teasing. All heads shot to the eldest Sully daughter. He was right. Beside her forest features, the girl was all about the water clan now and it truly showed in her looks.
" I will not leave another place I consider my home." Was her final statement.

" It took a while for us to adapt to our new home. It was just like when we had all first arrived. The months were full of learning and experiences we thought we'd never have but here we were."
The Sully family stood in the very shallows of the water, facing the crowd of Metkayina people. Tonowari and Ronal stood amongst them with gleeful looks on their faces. After a long time of trial and error, Ronal had finally come around to having the Sully family around.
It was a tradition here for the newcomers to be welcomed to the clan. Ronal handed Neytiri a pearl and blessed the family. Just like in they're old clan, they had pearls here instead of beads. It was for the Sully song chord. A time in life where something huge was happening.
Tonowari yelled some words to his clan and cheers, yelps, whistles, any sort of loud sound was heard throughout the people. Koänä held Kiri's hand tightly in her's and the sisters shared wide smiles. It all just felt right.
" Let the celebration begin!" Tonowari yelled with a smile on his face.

" In the forest, I never thought I would be able to find a guy who truly made me happy and settle down with him. I suppose there was a lot of pressure being placed on my life in the forest. Looking back on it now it almost makes me sad I never opened myself up more and tried to find a guy. Perhaps grandmother was right when she told me it was soon to be my time."
Koänä ran onto the beach as a laugh escaped her lips. The girl looked behind her and saw Trítön gaining speed towards her with a laugh following him wherever he went. Koänä smiled to herself as his smile was so permanent in his laugh. She knew how lucky she was to score this guy's heart.
The boy finally caught up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off the sand and into the air. Her laugh mixed with the crashing of the waves was practically heaven to him. He spun her around in circles as he got closer to the water.
" You yield yet?" He teased with a smirk on his face while he walked farther into the water with her still in his arms.
The girl looked up at him, laughing. " Never."
" If you say so.." He mumbled before dropping her in the water. The girl yelled his name before being plunged into the sea.
She came back up, spitting out some water. Koänä jokingly shoved him away from her and slicked the hair out of her face. He smiled charmingly at her and grabbed her arms, tugging her into his body. He wrapped his arms around her as they watched two ilu swim past them making noises of delight as they seemed to be racing.
" This feels right." Trítön mumbled, looking down at her.
Koänä looked up at him, quizfully. " How so?"
" Me, you, the ocean, you guys being a part of the clan now. It all feels right." He confessed to her, tucking some stray hairs behind her ear.
She stayed quiet for a while to take the time to look at the boy in front of her. He was right. It did feel right. Everything about what had happened just felt like it was supposed to happen the way it did. Was a lot of it unfortunate? Absolutely, but that never stopped the overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude from flowing throughout the nineteen year old's body. Koänä finally felt happy.
" I think you may be right." She whispered to him with a tiny smile making its way on her lips.
" Oh I may be right?" He joked, a small chuckle escaping his mouth.
Koänä nodded with a hum which made a smile appear on Trítön's face. The boy leaned down and placed his lips on her's. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned her body closer into his. She found warmth in every single thing about him.
" Anything and everything relating to Trítön felt right. I could feel myself falling for him more and more every single day. My father educated me at a young age about things relating where he came from. I vividly remember something along the lines of how you could become addicted to something. How you crave it and every time you experience it, you never wanted that moment to end. I felt that with Trítön. He was perfect. My gorgeous sea boy."
