"Do you know where the Traveler went?"

"No. It's not my concern."

Vess looks down at her bowl of strange meat.

"I don't wanna eat this shit."

"Then don't eat anything."

She watches Gate take a bite.

"Why must things be this way? Why can't we go back to the way things were."

Gate stands up and places his bowl down, his hands shaking.

"You act like things are bad. Why don't you go to New Boston, or hell, go back to ADZ. The people are rebuilding, you're stuck in the past."

"You're one to talk." Vess smirks.

Gate scoffs. She was right.

"I told you to leave two days ago."

"Maybe I'm just plotting to kill you, get revenge on my people."

"You wouldn't be able to make a thought before I put you down." Gate growls.

Vess was struck with an amount of fear.

They both look over at the Golden Tree, almost taken fully by it's dark disease.

"It...just needs healed. It needs Light Energy."

"And there isn't any?"

"No. Not anymore."

"Why not go in there yourself and check."

"Check what?"

"If you can fix it."

Gate looks down at his feet.

"Maybe. But I...still want you gone. I should've killed you alongside your other assassins."

He looks out in distance, away from Vess.

"I've been here for so long....I'm alone. I used to have friends you know, mentors, apprentices, brothers. They're all dead and gone now."

Gate sighs, feeling the cold touch of a gun barrel on the back of his head.

"You got a little emotional there, didn't you?"

"What did I tell you before?"
