Sebastian's POV//

I was so confused, when I got back inside the castle.

I was outside for some reason, though no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't put my finger on why. I returned to my dorm, and was immediately greeted by a very worried Ominis.

"Where were you?" he asked me. I thought about his question, but I didn't have a good answer.

"I don't know," I replied honestly. By the look on his face, Ominis must've thought this wasn't the case.

"I'm tired of your lies, Sebastian. What were you doing out of bed at this hour? Was y/n with you?"

"Who?" I asked. I didn't recall this person. Though, I was filled with some strange feelings upon hearing this name, I really had no idea who Ominis was asking about.

"You idiot, you can't pretend to be that stupid. What trouble did you two get into tonight?"

"Ominis, I really have no idea what you're talking about," I said firmly. "Now let me go to sleep."

"I'm only going to ask again in the morning," He told me, before getting back in his own bed.

The next morning, I woke up and began to get myself ready for classes. I waved Ominis off most of the morning and managed to make it to my first class before I was bombarded with questions again. I really had no idea who this girl was, and was very confused about why everyone kept asking about her.

"She's not in class today, are you sure you two weren't up to anything dangerous last night?" Ominis asked. "You both know you're not to leave the castle for any reason right now."

"I have never heard that name in my life, now can we please stop talking about her? Why is she so important to you anyways?"

"She's important to you," Ominis said. "She's you're girlfriend."

"I highly doubt that a girl I've never met would be important to me, let alone be my girlfriend," I bit back. Was this some kind of joke? Why was he still going on about this?

Poppy approached our table with a concerned look on her face and interrupted Ominis and I.

"Have either of you seen y/n?" she asked. "I haven't had a chance to ask Imelda yet if she was in her bed this morning. I'm starting to get a bit worried. I haven't seen her."

I wasn't even going to reply anymore. I didn't know this person, and they just weren't letting up. This definitely was some kind of unfunny practical joke. But then again, Ominis really wasn't the kind of person to do such things.

"Sebastian," Ominis said, pulling me from my thoughts. "Can you remind me again what you were doing last night? You were out of bed. Where did you go?"

"Just like I told you, I have no idea. I can't remember."

Poppy gave Ominis a strange look before turning her attention back to me.

"You don't think-" Poppy started.

"I'm going to take him to the nurse," Ominis said.

"Why?" I asked. "I feel perfectly well. There's no reason I should go there right now."

"I just need to pick up a book," Ominis said. "You should come with me. You hate this class anyways."

"Can't argue with that," I said.

"Poppy, please let me know as soon as you find y/n," Ominis said, before we departed the classroom.

Ominis led me through the halls towards the hospital wing. Once we reached our destination, Ominis went in ahead to find Nurse Blainey. I stayed outside to wait for him.

Y/n's POV//

I had a really hard time trying to find sleep that night, so I headed to the hospital wing early in the morning to get a note to miss classes and rest. The nurse unfortunately saw the few wounds I was harboring from the previous night, that she made me stay for an examination. Upon further inspection, she'd gathered that I had been out of the castle and contacted Professor Weasley. She was sitting beside the bed I lay in questioning me, when Ominis walked in.

I don't think he saw me, as he went straight to the nurse. I didn't want to speak to him right now anyways. He was smart, and I know he might've gathered that Sebastian wasn't perfectly alright. If anything, he at least knew he wasn't in his bed last night and was up worrying.

"Bring him in then, but I'm not sure I'm really able to do anything."

Oh crap. Was Sebastian here too?

I slowly got up to draw the curtains closed around my bed, but Ominis turned around, having heard me moving. He held out his wand towards me. "Y/n?" he said. "Is that you?"

I hesitated a moment before answering. "Yes," I replied softly. He quickly came over to my bedside and started to question me.

"You know what happened to Sebastian, don't you?" he asked me. All of the guilt inside me rose to the surface again. I wasn't sure that I could tell him.

"You won't like it," I told him. Should I lie? Say Charles did it? I don't think I could stand to lose more than one person today. "Sebastian followed me out last night, and Charles used obliviate on him. Just to get rid of his memories of me." My face fell as I said this. not only was there the guilt of the lie, but there was the truth. The fact that Sebastian would have none of the precious memories that we've formed over the time that we've known each other.

"Why would he do that?" Ominis asked, his tone distressed.

"Charles said he didn't want him in the way anymore," I said, my voice barely audible.

"This is where I'd typically scold you, but I can tell you've already beat yourself up enough over this."

I didn't respond. Ominis made an empathetic facial expression towards me before heading off. He came back into the hospital a moment later with Sebastian in tow.

"I don't really see why this is necessary," Sebastian said, as Ominis brought him towards the nurse. "I already told you that I'm entirely fine."

"Just humor me then, please," Ominis pleaded with him.

I watched through a crack in my curtains as the nurse did a check up on Sebastian, but as we all knew, there was nothing any of us could do about the memory loss.

"You could try jogging his memory about whatever it is he's been made to forget, but there's not much else I can do. I'm sorry dear," Nurse Blainey spoke. Ominis looked really upset and worried, but Sebastian was still just as confused as before.

The guilt and sadness was building up inside of me, seeing them like this. I could always try to get to know Sebastian all over again, but I knew how bad that would hurt. He wasn't missing anything, so why would I put myself through that? It almost seemed easier to just forget.

Plus, this way, I could guarantee that he would be safe. Getting close to him again would only endanger him, and I couldn't have that.
