Part 24

Fp- She's bleeding, we have to go to the hospital, now!

Alice- F-Fuck. (whispers)

Jughead continued to hold Betty while they walked out to the car. Fp got in the driver's seat, Jughead helped Betty into the passenger's seat next to him before hopping in the back with Caleb and Ben. But the whole time he leaned forward and held onto Betty's hand while he talked to her.

Jughead- You're gonna be okay, baby. You're gonna be okay. (softly)

Betty- N-No...i-it hurts so badly. (cries)

Fp- We'll be there in a few minutes, sweetheart, just keep breathing.

She let out a loud cry, causing Fp to hit the gas and speed up. For the next few minutes Ben, Caleb and Jughead all talked to Betty to try to keep her awake and calm. Then they arrived at the hospital. Fp jumped out of the car and found a wheelchair, Jughead and Caleb immediately helped Betty get out of the car and into the chair before Ben started wheeling her inside. And at that point, Fp was already inside talking to the receptionist.

Fp- We don't know! She just started bleeding!

Receptionist- Sir, please calm down, we're going to get her into a room as fast as possible.

Fp- She needs to get to a room now! Just look at her.

She had tears in her eyes while she sat in a puddle of her own blood. Jughead was holding her hand tightly, still doing his best to keep his girlfriend calm, but at this point, she was just terrified.

Receptionist- S-Shit, that's not good, o-okay...come with me.

The five of them quickly followed the receptionist to a room in the pregnancy/labor and delivery ward, where a nurse instantly started helping Betty. Fp, Ben, Caleb and Jughead all stood to the side while more nurses started walking in. They performed an ultrasound and checked all of her levels but then someone walked in.

Caleb- No! Get the fuck out! (tears)

Alice- Don't talk to me like that! I'm your mother!

Caleb- I don't care, you shouldn't be here! (tears)

Alice- I'm here for my daughter-

Betty- P-Please go away. (cries)

Alice- Betty, my love-

Betty- I don't want you here...I'm asking you to leave, so please leave. (cries)

Alice- No! I'm not leaving you-

Fp- Alice, you need to leave. (softly)

Alice- Fp, she needs me. (tears)

Fp- No she doesn't. I know you want her to, but she doesn't. And I'm sorry that I'm saying this right now, but I have custody of her since you were "dead", so if you don't leave in five seconds, I'm going to have to call one of my deputies to escort you out.

She fell silent and looked at everyone in the room with tears in her eyes before she walked out.

Betty- T-Thank you, Fp. (sniffles)

Fp- No problem, sweetheart.

That's when one of the doctors walked in.

Doctor- Okay, I don't want you to freak out but we have to get you into surgery immediately.

The girl shook her head while more tears rolled down her cheeks. Ben, Caleb and Jughead all ran over to her and sat with her to comfort her while Fp began asking a bunch of questions.

Fp- Why? What's wrong?!

Doctor- She has Placenta Previa, which occurs where the placenta is stuck in the lower part of the uterus and covering the cervix. We're not going to be able to stop the bleeding until we get the baby out, so she needs to have a c-section now.

Betty- I d-don't want to... (cries)

Doctor- Honey, at the rate that you're bleeding right now, if we wait too long you could bleed out.

Betty looked at her brothers who were terrified for her but they knew they could lose her if she didn't do it.

Caleb- You have to, Betty. (tears)

Ben- It's the safest option for you to be okay...for you both to be okay. (tears)

Betty nodded before looking up at the doctor who began to talk through everything with her, then he said:

Doctor- We have to get going now. But if you want, you can have one person come with you if that will make you feel more comfortable?

Betty- Just one? (cries)

Doctor- Yeah, I'm sorry, with c-sections we can't have too many people in the room.

Betty nodded and looked at everyone in the room before grabbing Jughead's hand.

Betty- Can you please come with me? (cries)

Jughead- Of course, baby.

He kissed her head while he held her hand tightly, but then the doctor continued to speak.

Doctor- Alright, we need to get you prepped for surgery, everyone else please go to the waiting room.

Fp, Ben and Caleb all hugged the girl tightly before walking out of the hospital room, then Betty was brought up to the surgical ward, Jughead followed behind her. Before they were brought into the room they put on their masks, hair bonnets and scrubs. Then they walked in. Jughead stood by Betty's head while they put up a cloth over her chest, then a bunch of nurses and doctors walked in. They were clearly trying to move quickly because the young girl was still bleeding like crazy, but all of the commotion made Betty cry.

Jughead- Baby, don't cry.

Jughead knelt down by her head while she continued to sob, but he grabbed her hand and kissed her cheek, doing his best to calm her.

Betty- I-I'm so scared. (sobs)

Jughead- I know, my love, but the doctors are going to make sure you're okay.

She nodded.

Doctor- Alright, Betty, we're going to start, okay?

Betty- Mhm. (cries)

Doctor- You're going to be okay, sweetheart. Just try to stay calm.
