The next morning we were assembled in the main chamber once again.
"Good Morning Everyone. We have another task that takes us up into the skies. We must find the dragon's mate."
"Any ideas where it might be?" Elder Camarillo asked.
"No Sir but if we go by Wilbert's letter that Councilman Klaus told us about. He might be the specter that is plaguing Europe. We will start there."
"It will take us weeks to fly to Europe?" Liam said.
"Not if we go North to the pole then fly South to Europe. It is obvious that is what the dragons are doing. We will do the same."
"That is such a good idea." Liam said.
"I thought you would like that."
"When do we start?"
"Now."
"If we encounter the male and you are alone with your partner. Go to ground until we are able to join you."
Everyone nodded.
"All right, some of us will have coils of rope with us."
We nodded again.
"Everyone shift."
The chamber was full of blue eyed dragons.
"Let us fly!"
We flew North to the pole then South to Europe. This time I tied a bag of clothes to my foot. Several of us did the same in case we had to shift into our human form.
We were naturally fast but as dragons we were faster. We were flying over Europe by noon. Shaun sent Paddy and I to see Wilbert if there was anymore slayings.
We landed in Wilbert's garden. We dressed then entered through his garden doors.
We startled Mikalia.
"I am sorry Mikalia but we came through your garden."
"Oh Senor Paddy. I just was not expecting you to be here."
"Is Wilbert here?"
"Si Senor. He is in his study. Come with me." We followed Mikalia to the study.
"Senor, we have guests." She opened the door. Wilbert was in front of a map of Europe and Asia with a lot of dots on it.
"Paddy. Kylie. I did not hear a carriage come in."
"No Sir. We are sorry for intruding but we flew in." Paddy said.
"Flew? You two are full of surprises."
"Yes Sir. We came to find out if there has been any more slayings?"
"Yes. This is my map. I put a dot on the map for every reported headless death."
We looked at the map. There were over a thousand dots. The dots were mostly along the coasts and along Northern Russia.
"It is awfully quiet. Where is everyone?" I asked.
"My family have gone out to find this specter that is plaguing us."
"It is not a specter Wilbert. It is a dragon." Paddy told him.
"A dragon! There is no such thing." He said disbelief.
"But you believe it is a spirit." Paddy said looking at him.
"I guess they are the same. Specter or dragon both are fantasies."
