Ever wondered if there was so much more going on in the Vampire Academy series then we heard? After having read the series so many times, as well as the Bloodlines series (spoilers inside), the short stories released for the anniversary and plenty o...
Upon arriving in Portland, Oregon they made their way to their rental. It was a very small 3 bedroom apartment, Sydney having a room to herself while the other guardians were forced to share. It helped that they would sleep in shifts, keeping a continual guard. They tried making their location central to the Portland State University (hoping it is the university mentioned) and possible schools, since they were attempting to complete high school.
In the end there were 5 possible considerations. Their age would raise questions if they attended the more prestigious and religious schools. After making enquiries regarding new students, they further narrowed it to 3 possibilities. From there it was a matter of 'eeny meeny miny moe' as to which they try first.
Lincoln High School it is.
Thankfully for Sydney, it turned out that they guessed correctly. While excited at the prospect of attending school (particularly after reading about it in her books), she lacked social skills every bit as she feared. Her head was reeling with all that was uncovered already, the fact that while alchemists believed the Moroi race was the only supernatural that existed, her life was saved by becoming a witch by accident. Her life was saved from the very people she blindly dedicated her life to, from the one who was supposed to love her no matter what- her father.
Finished collecting her timetable and locker info from the office, she was aimlessly walking the halls, lost in thought of how a 'simple' deal with Zmey to avenge her sister, resulted in such a life course change. It was ironic really that a deal she had long since regretted making, was now to be the reason for her life being complete. To finding love and a purpose beyond anything she'd ever thought possible. Unfortunately she was so lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice she was about to bump into someone until it was too late.

Her day was off to a poor start.
"Hey watch it" the person said. Sydney was too scared to look up. Knowing her luck, it meant she'd just run into the 'popular' girl. Lost yet again while mentally debating whether she should reach out to her older sister and her hopes of developing a healthy familial relationship, she had clearly taken too long to apologize for bumping into the girl. Instead she was too busy imagining the 'talks' she would get when her sister discovers everything that has happened in her life since she left without looking back – not like she had many other options. Finishing her thoughts and about to apologize for her mistake, the girl had obviously decided that she was taking too long and slapped her across the face, the impact causing her to fall to the floor. "Next time stay out of my way" she huffed and with a flick of her hair, made a point of stepping over the fallen Sydney, making sure to graze her with her heels before strutting down the hall as if it were a runway.
Well, until someone blocked her path that is.
It took Sydney a few takes to realize just who stood in this girls way. Who could possibly dare to try and take her on when even she knew better, and she'd only just arrived. Too far away to hear what was said, it was easy enough to interpret when she realised just who it was that blocked her path. Standing to the side was the Princess, shaking her head at whatever Rose is saying to the girl that slapped Sage. Given how pale the girl looked, despite her caked on makeup, and the speed in which she hurried down the hall when released, she didn't have to guess much. Easy enough to imagine that Rose was instead warning the other girl to stay out of her way instead. Rose was reluctantly led by the Princess once the girl was out of sight, helping Syd up from the floor where she had remained, too stunned from the slap to move.
