It was quiet. Maybe it was because mainly students come to this cafe and they're all at school right now, so there's barely anyone in this cafe. It's also awkward since Sae came out of nowhere and isn't even speaking. What's worst is that Sae's food didn't come yet, so it was just me eating. I ate in silence as the cold air roamed around us.
"Is there something wrong with the way i eat? Why are you staring at me..?" I finally decided to break the silence as i picked up a napkin and wiped the edge of my mouth feeling embarrassed. "No, you're just a messy eater. Never changed," Sae replied in his usual tone. "Rude.." I mumbled although Sae heard me. "Not in a bad way, i find it cute." He added but with a small smile this time. I blushed and took a sip of my latte.
As i was about to start a conversation, Sae's food came. He seemed to order the same thing as me, except it's an americano. What a copycat.. Well, i guess we could both enjoy our food in peace then. After all, it's not well-mannered to talk while eating.
"Pouting?" Sae asked while taking a sip from his americano.. "Hm? What do you mean?" I asked in confusion. "I ordered the same thing as you." He corrected. So, he did order the same thing i got. "How did you know what i ordered? You weren't here when i ordered, were you?" I asked in suspicion, trying to get information out of him. "Who knows." He replied while shutting his eyes with a smirk.
I stood up as he opened his eyes to look at me. "Are you stalking me or something?! What do you want?" I snapped as he grinned while looking down. With a cute chuckle, he replied, "nothing, but we haven't hanged out in a while, you owed me a date too." My eyes widened as i recall when i owed him a date. Ah, yes.. When he dropped me off back at blue lock then, the first time we met again after years.
I sighed in annoyance and took a seat once again. "Where.. Do you want to go?" He smiled, "i already reserved a spot at a restaurant for us tonight." I looked at him with a shocked expression. "You reserved without even getting a reply from me?" He nodded, "i knew you would agree, you have no choice anyway." I felt a tick mark appear on my forehead as i gave an irritated smile. "Actually, i'm meeting up with a friend in a bit, not sure if i'll make it!" "Where?" "Arcade." "With who?" "None of your business." "Is it a guy?" "You really think Heli's a guy-?" Oh frick. I just spilled it. "You're still in contact with Ophelia?" Sae wondered as i nodded and finished eating my food. "I'm coming with you." I almost choked on my food at his reply. "It was just supposed to be Heli and i!" He looked out the window, "it can be our re-bond." Excuses. Sae and Ophelia are just as close as me and him, but my instincts are telling me he's making up excuses. "Whatever," i muttered as my phone rang. It's no other than Ophelia!
"Hey, y/n! My school ended! I'm walking to the arcade right now." "Alright, i'll start walking too." "Hm? You don't sound excited to see me.. Something up?" "Well.. Someone else is tagging along." "Aw, what? Who?" "..Sae." "Omg Sae?? He's back?!" "Mhm.." "Ah! I'm so excited!! I'm nearly there, see you guys!"
"She sounds hyped up when she heard my name." Sae teased. "She hung up on me." I glared at my phone. "Well, let's not make her wait." Sae stood up and started to walk out. "You coming?" I nodded as i followed behind him. This might just be the worst hangout yet. I'm so annoyed! I guess i'll just have to win Ophelia's attention and ignore Sae as much as possible. Though, it'll be hard since we're all close and Ophelia truly does miss Sae, probably more than i do. They share similar interests after all. But i'll prove to Ophelia, i'm just as good as Sae and worth her attention more than that attention seeker! It's been Sae and I's competition since we were kids. We would always fight for Ophelia's attention. Guess some things just never change..
