"Maiya." Draco eventually called, myself walking over to him to see him showing me a page he'd found in a book about basilisks. Reading through it, it was very helpful about knowing how basilisks move and think. With a quick glance to me, I watched the boy tear the page out while no one was looking.
"Just in case." He smiled to me, placing it in his pocket to which his eyes caught onto the group of Harry and his friends walking towards the shop doors, "show time."With this, the boy smiled and wandered over to the group, myself nervously following.
"Bet you loved that didn't you, Potter?" Draco spat, "famous Harry Potter! Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page!"
Taking hold of the boy's arm, I subtly tried to pull him away but Draco wouldn't budge.
"Draco." I whispered, the boy once again ignoring me. In front of us, Ron's sister stepped forward and glared at Draco.
"Leave him alone." She scowled, Draco scoffing besides me.
"Oh look, Potter. You've got yourself a girlfriend." He laughed.
"So do you, by the looks of things." Harry smiled, gesturing to me still holding onto Draco's arm, "or is it two with Ash?"
My head fell to the floor with Harry's words. Is Ash the girl Millie told me about? It must be true and apparently everyone knows about it but me!Draco was about to snap back with something yet froze when a cane slapped harshly onto his shoulder. With this, the boy quickly moved out of the way, myself moving too. His smile had disappeared and the boy seemed almost nervous now. I looked over his shoulder to see a tall man with long, platinum hair and a smug, slim face. This must be Draco's father.
"Now, now, Draco. Play nicely." The man spoke in a sickly, smooth voice, his face plastered with a smirk. The man had now stepped forward, observing all of us intently. His eyes landed on Harry, causing the man to pull the boy closer. With a swift touch, he lifted the boy's hair from his face to gaze at Harry's legendary scar.
"Harry Potter," he hummed, "your scar is legend, as of course is the wizard who gave it to you."
My eyes shot to Draco who's gaze remained at the floor. Turning back, I watched as Harry pulled away from the man, straightening himself up and shooting the man a stern glare.
"Voldemort killed my parents." He spoke, all of our eyes turning to him as he spoke the name, "he's nothing but a murderer."
"You must be very brave to speak his name." The man smirked, eye brows raised as Harry had done, "or very stupid."
"Fear of the name only increases fear itself." Hermione piped up, Lucius quickly turning to her.
"You must be Miss Swan? Or Granger?" Lucius frowned, looking between Hermione and myself.
"Granger." Draco muttered to his father.
"Pity." Lucius sighed, turning to me, "I swear I remember you speaking so fondly of her beauty."
My head fell to the floor with Lucius' words. I despised the man, not that I didn't already. I felt Draco take hold of my hand lightly, giving it a soft squeeze as I cautiously accepted it.
"Father!" Draco snapped, "all I said about Maiya is true! You just don't see it."
"Clearly," the man sniggered before turning to face Ron and his family. I'd never spoken to any of them but Ron and only knew of the famous Weasley twins, Fred and George, due to their well known pranks and antics. I'd spoken to them once or twice and they were amazing! There was also, however, an older brother and a younger sister.
"Let's see. Red hair, tatty second hand books," Lucius spoke, picking up the books from Ginny's cauldron, "you must be the Weasleys!"With this, an older looking man came wandering over, his bright red hair informing me of his name. Ron's father. The man had strode over with a bright smile on his face, however this soon faded when his eyes landed upon Lucius. The two began to argue, however my thoughts lay with what Lucius and Harry had said about me and Draco. My excitement for this year was beginning to fade quite quickly. Zoning back into the conversation, I looked over to Lucius who began to hand Ginny's books back. That's when I saw it. The man had slipped Voldemort's diary into her cauldron. I could feel my eyes widen as I watched the scene unfold, myself squeezing Draco's hand and keeping my eyes focused on that book. Draco quickly turned to me, eyes filled with fear as he slowly nodded. That was definitely the book! With this, the boy quickly took my hand and pulled me out of the shop.
"I'm so sorry about that." Draco spoke, "please don't listen to my father, you're-"
"Draco!" I cut the boy off, "it doesn't matter what he said, I don't care. What matters is that Ginny is in danger!"
