"Kama! Have you heard the tale of the boogeyman?"

"No, I haven't. Wanna enlight me?"

"Of course!"

The children's house ran wild at times, but they were actually really calm for the most part.

I guess they liked the new stability, especially since most of them were orphans from the apocalypse like me and Aino. We understood how they felt, and kids enjoyed that. They like having someone who can understand what they're going through because they can't communicate it well with words.

Many people think kids are stupid. Even some adults at this farm thought that. That's mostly why I don't have help with them. At the end of the day, ignorance lurks everywhere.

Kids aren't stupid. They have the capability to understand the world in their own way.

They can even seize it, and they can grow into powerful people.

That's the way I saw things. Some people here found me weird because of that, but I couldn't pay their opinions much attention. It helped, and that's all I wanted to do.

"The boogeyman is a chimera that haunts children in their sleep! They fight psychologically at first and then snatch them up from their beds while they sleep soundly!" one of the younger kids told the tale, gesturing like he was telling a ghost story.

"So this is the boogeyman crossed with Freddy Krueger?" one of the older kids asked, tilting her head when she realized the reference.

"I guess... but it's true! I've fought it once!" he argued.

I hissed when I heard him say that.

Sometimes I forget, they've all fought those things even though they're so young.

"It's a possibility. There are crazy chimeras out there, but we're here to protect you guys from them," I smiled, gently patting the kid on his head.

"You'll protect us from the boogeyman?" he asked, glancing up at me with big eyes.

"Of course, the boogeyman stands no chance against me and Aino."

"Yay! Father Aino!"

I swear we don't call ourselves that. They came up with those names because they saw us as the parents of the farm. It was really cute, but the names still made me cringe a bit.

"That's exactly right," I heard a voice from behind me, causing me to jump.

"That's why they called you," I laughed, turning to see a proud Aino behind me.

"I was only here long enough to hear the last part, and I appreciate the support. You're exactly right," he smiled, glancing down at the kids sitting there.

"Of course I am, I'm always right." I smiled, turning to look him in the eye.

"Avert your eyes, kids. We're gonna go above Disney ratings,"

Aino pulled me in by the waist, placing a gentle kiss on my lips.

Yeah, we're kind of dating now.

"Oh god, I'm out of here," the older kid spoke, getting up to head upstairs.

I laughed, turning to see that some of the kids actually listened and looked away.

"You're gonna get cooties, Kama."

"Aino-cooties."

Some of the kids giggled, starting to leave as well. It was like our kiss was illegal.

"Aren’t they cute? Why are you scared of them?" I put my hands on my hips, shaking my head in disapproval.

"Because... they're so small, and they run so fast! Sometimes, they get lost in the crops, and we can't find them," he groaned, covering his face in exhaustion.

I laughed, kissing him on the cheek.

"What are you doing here, anyway? Shouldn't you still be working?" I asked him, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Well, it's an easy day on the farm this time of year. We replanted everything, and we just have to wait for it to grow. I thought we could all have a day off. Just take a chill day," he smiled like an idiot, holding me by the hips.

"That sounds fun. What would we do?" I asked, playing with one of the buttons on his overall.

He glanced down at the button, letting out a nervous laugh afterward.

"Well... we could relax in the house, maybe talk about some things. Or... really get kicked off of Disney Channel," he laughed, unable to complete the joke seriously.

I rolled my eyes, eventually laughing as well.

"I feel like we do have to talk about something, though. Something kind of serious." Aino sighed, his mood becoming serious as well.

"Oh." was all I could respond with, kind of nervous now.

"Let's head to the house. We can talk there."
