Kayla rinsed the wine off her arms under the warm water and dried them. The ends of her hair were damp after washing the red wine out of it. She rubbed a towel along the strands to dry it. She had changed into jeans and sweatshirt, very causal for a dressy party but it was the best she could do. If anyone asked, she had decided to tell them her zipper broke. At this rate she was pretty much sober, her mind had stop spinning and she felt clear as day as she looked at herself in the mirror. Her makeup was taken off, allowing her fresh face to breathe. As she continued to towel dry her hair, she heard a knock on the door.

She walked out of the bathroom and towards the bedroom door. The knock occurred again.

"One second Jamie." she called out before the door abruptly opened. "Jesus, I could've been getting changed-" Kayla stopped dead in her tracks. "Oh, hey."

"Hey." Taylor responded with a smile. Her hair was undone and took on a natural look as it curled at the ends. She had a minimal amount of makeup on, her usual red stained lips were gone as she bore her natural colour. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, probably due to the wine she had consumed over the course of the night. Smooth skin peaked through the undone buttons of her white shirt. Kayla found it hard to remove her eyes from there.

"Can we talk?" Taylor asked with a smile as she clicked the door shut.

"I would love to, but I asked Jamie to wait for me." Kayla said as she threw the towel onto the bed.

Taylor stepped forward. "I met him on the way up. I told him I wanted to speak to you and he said he would make himself busy downstairs. I also apologised for the whole thing earlier, which he was surprisingly okay with."

Kayla huffed. "He wasn't impressed I lied to him at the start, but he came around." she chewed her lip. "I also found out you've known about his little secret the whole time. If music stops working for you, you'd make a fantastic actress."

Taylor winced. "Sorry about that."

Kayla waved a hand in the air. "It's okay, I would've done the same. Although, you have Jamie to thank, because I was prepared to absolutely grill you about the whole thing."

Taylor let out a soft chuckle. "I'll make a note and send him flowers." She inched closer. Sorrow filled her blue eyes. Had she been crying? "I'm really sorry, Kayla."

"It's honestly fine Taylor, like I said, I would've done the exact-"

"No, not about that." she shook her head. "For everything else."

Kayla furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean for everything else?"

The woman let out a long sigh. "For kissing you, for the moment between us on the night of your birthday, for initiating things and never explaining myself or my actions. For setting up stupid rules and then breaking every single one of them. It wasn't fair on you." She nervously licked her lips. "To be honest with you. I didn't know what I wanted, and I should have never started this thing between us like that. I wish I could've done it another way, one where I was open from the start."

"Taylor, I don't regret a single part of it." Kayla said as a small smile tugged at her lips. "When Jamie seen us, I know I left without a word and I hope you don't think I was ashamed of being with you, because I wasn't. I was just so shocked we had been caught in a...well...vulnerable position."

The blonde let out a relived breath. "I thought you regretted the whole thing. I'm glad to hear you didn't."

"I wouldn't change a single thing, not now or then, or whenever the whole thing started." she laughed softly.

Taylor awkwardly shifted on her feet. "I-um-if you want we could talk about things? Properly this time, with no shortcuts or waffling." She gave Kayla a small smile.
