Bella Swan sat on the steps of the porch, hugging her pale knees. Her eyes were squinted as she stared out into the vast desert before her, the sun almost blinding her with it's bright rays. The girl could only think about how she was going from hot and bright Phoenix, Arizona to the dampness and gloominess Forks, Washington.

But it wasn't so much Forks she was worried about, more so about leaving her Mom for her Dad. The last time she saw him was two Christmas' ago. It was always so awkward when she would spend time with her Dad. The two had nothing in common and he was always so busy and stiff.

"Last time I carry your luggage ever." A voice said, dropping two heavy duffel bags on both sides of the brunette. Looking up, Bella could only smile at the sight of her sister.

Marlene Swan was one year younger than Bella. Even though the two girls were siblings, they couldn't look anything less alike. While Bella took after her Father, with her brown hair and anti-social demeanor, Marlene could pass off as their Mother's twin. The younger girl had long red hair that reached her mid-back and freckles that went from her face to her arms. She was more bold than her older sister, not really thinking before she spoke. The only thing the two really shared physically was their brown eyes and pale skin.

"Thanks." Bella replied, standing up slowly. "Though, I didn't ask you too."

"Well considering that you were too busy in la-la-land, or whatever, you didn't hear Mom yelling at us to get our luggage." The ginger said, nodding to her large rolling suitcase and carry-on backpack. "I don't know why you even insisted on packing duffel bags anyways."

"They fit more." Bella shrugged. "And I wasn't in "la-la-land", I was just thinking."

"About Forks? Because if so then you shouldn't sweat it really. It's just like Phoenix except smaller, and more cloudy." She paused for a beat, knitting her brows together just slightly. "And rainier."

"Ok, I get it." She scoffed with a shake of her head. "Forks isn't what I'm worried about." Bella denied. "It's actually the person we'll be staying with that makes me nervous."

"Dad? You're joking." She chuckled, putting a hand on the brunettes shoulder. "Listen, Dad loves us. Y'know? He's excited to see us."

"I guess." The brunette sighed. "And he's a cop, so maybe that'll keep you out of trouble."

Marlene snorted. "Me? Out of trouble? No fucking way."

"I heard that Marlene Swan." Looking back, the two sisters stared at their mom, Renee. "You don't need to give your poor Father a heart-attack, or a stroke."

"Mom, c'mon!" The ginger groaned, rolling her eyes. "You know I'm only joking, I'm a good kid... *an okay kid.*" She corrected herself at the end with a mumble.

"Ok, Marlene." Renee chuckled out, making the youngest daughter pout at her. Sighing, Renee looked at her daughters, placing a hand on each of their cheeks. "What am I gonna do without my girls?"

"Probably set things on fire." Bella muttered, Marls chuckling a bit at her older sister's statement.

"Oh, ha, ha." Renee laughed dryly. "Now if you two ever change your mind, just call. Alright? And I'll come rushing back from Florida or Timbuktu and meet you here." Though she said that, the girl's saw some hesitance in her eyes. The two knew that she wanted to travel with her husband Phil, who was a traveling baseball player. That's why they came up with the idea to move to Forks in the first place, that way their ditzy mother could be free of the burden of, well, them.

Looking at one another, the two communicated with their eyes before Bella nodded, looking at Renee. "Mom, we'll be fine."

"And we'll call and email every day." The younger sister added, smiling playfully.

"I better not get a call from your Father saying that he had to arrest you." Renee teased, poking her side. Marlene swallowed back a snicker, jumping away from her Mother.

Just in that moment, a taxi pulled up into the driveway, honking it's horn. The three looked at it for a moment before looking back at each other. "Well, that's your ride." Renee sighed, petting her daughters' hair. She then pulled them into a crushing hug, kissing the top of their heads five times each before letting go.

The sister's smiled at her before grabbing their respective luggage, heading toward the cab. The driver got out, popping the trunk before taking the girl's stuff himself. Bella sighed as she grabbed her sister's hand, leading her into the cab.

Renee could only watch as the cab slowly pulled out if the driveway, her two girls driving away from her. A pair of arms wrapped around her, making the woman jump. Turning around, she smiled when she saw her husband, Phil.

"You think they'll be ok?" She asked.

"They'll be fine." He confirmed, smiling as the two took one another's hands before walking back inside.

The plane ride from Phoenix to Seattle felt like it lasted forever.

Marlene sighed as she stared out the window, the crew busy unpacking luggage and setting the stairs up so passengers could actually get out of the plane. Queen blasted from her iPod as he sister decided reading was the best option for entertainment, even though her sister warned her about an upcoming headache.

"Ugh, my head..." Bella groaned, laying her head on her sister's freckled shoulder. The red-head chuckled, shaking her head fondly.

"I told you."

"Whatever."

A ding could be heard, alerting the passengers on the plane, before a static voice started speaking through the intercom. "Attention all passengers, this is is your captain speaking. We have made it to our destination; Seattle, Washington. Please grab your carry-ons and step out the plane in an orderly fashion. Thank you for flying with us today and enjoy your vacation or welcome home."

"Come on Bells, let's get this show on the road." Marlene sighed out, sitting up as Bella groaned.

Stepping out on the plane, the sisters squinted at the bright Seattle sun. "This will be the last time we see the sun for a good while." Bella whispered as they walked down the steps. Marlene just shushed her, a playful smirk on her lips.
