It's been three weeks since that party and Brandon still hasn't forgiven Nathan. We have a week of no school this week and we only have three days left. Nathan always disappears somewhere for around twenty minutes or so at a time. Momma's been working for a big company and staying up there for this week. Nathan comes home from his outings chewing gum and smelling like smoke. I'm starting to think he is smoking. I have to find evidence. I went up to Nate's room while he was out and looked around. I found in his trashcan a box of empty cigarettes and in his backpack half a pack of cigarettes. I grabbed them and went down stairs running to find Eric. I ran into him and he said, "Whoa Clare slow down." "Eric, Nathan smokes." I said out of breath. He gave me a confused look and so I held up the boxes. "I found the empty one in his trashcan and the half pack in his backpack. That's what he does when he leaves the house and comes back smelling like smoke and chewing gum." I stated. Eric's eyes got big and we headed to the front door as Nathan was coming up the front porch. "Nathan, what is this?" Eric asked holding out the boxes. Nathan fired back, "My stuff." trying to take it out of Eric's hands. I said, "Nate, this isn't you." "Yeah it is, no give it." He spat. Eric said, "Nickolas is in your head." "There is no such thing as Nickolas. It's just my balled up emotions." Nathan said shoving Eric causing him to drop the boxes and hit me. I fell to the grown and Nathan just picked up his boxes and walked back out. Eric helped me up and Emily came over, "Nate smokes." "Yeah, we need to get him to stop." I said. Emily said, "Call Brandon." "He won't come." Eric said. Emily said, "Just try." "They don't even speak to each other, Em. How do you expect him to help?" I said. Emily got up and left the house. She is probably going to Brandon's.
