This chapter is kinda long (like 4000 words) I'm so sorry-

You can read like half and then come back later for the second half in a little lmao

When Hero had offered to take you to grab breakfast (or brunch, depending on when you woke up), you had absolutely zero inclination to decline. Two main reasons: one, it's Hero, and two, you hadn't actually seen much of Faraway Town. You'd driven through the plaza when you first arrived, and clearly you'd also been there the night before, but you hadn't really explored further than that. Hero proposed that the two of you grab food and wander around town, and you jumped at the opportunity to explore and spend time with your friend.

He'd taken you to a diner, which you absolutely fell in love with. The building itself was gorgeous and the staff were incredibly friendly. Hero seemed to know most of them, which didn't really surprise you. He was a popular guy, both here and on campus. You were rather insecure about your relationship with him sometimes for this reason, but Hero went out of his way to reassure you that despite his inherent popularity, you were one of his closest friends and he truly cared for you.

"Surprisingly, not many people want to be close with someone who has no time," he'd sighed when you'd asked.

You honestly didn't care about that. It was college. Not like you had a lot of time either. You were just glad that you'd met someone as genuine and caring as Hero.

And now here you were, practically inhaling your meal as Hero just laughed at your utter insanity.

"Did you eat at all last night, Y/N?" he exclaimed in moderate concern, though the smile never left his face.

"Yeah!!" you managed to get out after quickly swallowing a mouthful of food and nearly choking. "I was with you last night, r'member?"

"Well, yes," Hero chuckled, calmly taking a bite of his own meal. "You just seem like, well, it just evaporated the second you ate it. You're quite hungry."

You laughed nervously. "I... uh, have high metabolism?"

"If you insist."

"I'd be totally down to, I don't know, make something with you, though," you not-so-subtly hinted. "Like, oh, I don't know... cookies... or something..."

Hero shook his head in mock disapproval. "You know, I can't help but worry that you're only friends with me because you're after my baking."

"Nah!!" you smirked and made a very respectable attempt to wiggle your eyebrows. "Only your heart, Hero."

He burst into a fit of laughter, practically collapsing onto the table. "Oh, you flirt!!! I'm very glad to see that I'm influencing you so much!!!"

"I learned from the best!" You found yourself giggling with him. "Gotta stay in practice, you know?"

"Oh? For who?" Hero teased, and you promptly threw your drink at his head.

After finishing up your breakfast, Hero managed to charm you into splitting the bill again (despite your protests) and the two of you stepped out into the cool morning air. You looked up and down the street, taking it all in. Faraway Town felt nostalgic in a way, and you couldn't exactly place it, but it was quite comforting for a place you'd almost never visited before.

"Is there anywhere in particular that you'd want to go, Y/N?" he asked as you made your way back to his car. "If not, my mom asked me to pick up some groceries if we had time. Normally she'd send Kel, but he's doing... something, I don't know what exactly. Sorry, I know that's kinda boring— I just didn't want to forget."
