Hi, my name is Alejandra Pérez. I was born in Bayamón, PR, into a family of five. Unfortunately, we lost my older brother Alex due to gang related issues when I was 14. Mom quit her job as a nanny because she was still hurt. My dad took on the job of working extra hard to provide for our family. My second older brother, Gabriel, was a senior in high school but dropped out to help care for mom while dad was gone. Dad always liked building houses, and he had even built our home back in Ponce. My aunt and uncle offered to let us stay in their house in New York until we had enough money to buy a two bedroom apartment. Tia y tio taught me and my brothers how to read, write, and speak English ever since we were little, so my parents figured it wouldn't be hard for me to get around at my new school.

I was 16 when we first moved to the States, and now, fast-forward years later, I'm now 26 years old. I moved to New Jersey about two years ago, I have a bachelor's degree in education, and I married the love of my life, Marus Ramirez. Since I grew up with babies and toddlers in my home, I was used to changing diapers and making bottles. After getting the hang of dealing with the little kids,I felt like I should move on to a bit more challenging environment. That's how I started working at a high school near my home.
