(Ep 5 - The Flea and the Acrobat) November Friday 11th, 1983 Steve's POV
I helped Caytlinn get ready for Will's funeral, even though I wasn't going. Caytlinn was wearing a black silk dress and her hair was done up. She looked completely different.
"You should go. Nancy will be there," Caytlinn muttered as she ate her lunch at the table.
"I'm not going,"
"But you should!"
"No, we're not having this conversation,"
"Yes, we're having this conversation!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"No!"
"Yes! Shit, damn it,"
"Ha! You said yes," Caytlinn laughed.
"Listen. Mom and Dad are going to be home in a couple of days. Then we can go back to ignoring each other. Got it?"
"Fine,"
"Good,"
"Fine,"
"Listening. I'm dropping you off, and then you are coming straight home. Straight home! Do I make myself clear? I don't want you wandering in the woods chasing shitty stories!"
I dropped Caytlinn off at the service, and I saw Nancy. Caytlinn was right, Nancy was there. I had the urge to get out, but I didn't.
Catylinn's POV
"'Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. It's times like these that our faith is challenged.'How, if he is truly benevolent could God take from us someone so young, so innocent? It would be easy to turn away from God. but we must remember that nothing, not even tragedy can separate us from His love..." the pastor traveled on.
I was listening, until Dustin lightly hit me in the arm, and nodded to Jennifer Hayes, who was crying. She never hung out with us or knew about us, but we all knew about her. I doubt she even knew about Will, but she was here, crying.
"Just wait till we tell Will that Jennifer Hayes was crying at his funeral," Dustin quietly laughed.
Mrs. Wheeler shushed him, which made me hold in a giggle. We watched as flowers were thrown into the ground. Lucas was pulled off with his parents, leaving us three to talk alone.
"Steve didn't come?"
"Being a dickhead right now," I answered. "Again. But now, you have to tell me what happened yesterday,"
"Listen. We heard Will on the Heathkit ham shack, right before El blew it up, setting the fire alarm off!" Mike informed me.
"Why do I have to miss all the fun shit?" I muttered, shoving my hands into my jacket pockets.
"Cause your brother sucks,"
"He does. He really, really does,"
"Wait? El set the fire alarm off?" I asked, shocked that she could do that.
"Yeah, blew the ham shack up!" Dustin laughed. "It was awesome!"
"No way! Thank you, guys, so much!" I exclaimed, relaxing my shoulders.
