Chapter 10: Ten million fireflies

As part of your training, Brimstone had led Sage, Skye and yourself to a room that you were definitely unaware of at first. It was a small cavernous room, with different crystals and plants spread throughout. There was a calm glow to the room, you felt yourself drawn toward it. The second you looked up your mind and soul seemed to be connected.

The entire ceiling was covered in a moving sky, strikingly real, with crisp views of the stars and constellations you were so familiar with. You were getting lost in the beautiful view and were pulled back to the present by Brimstone.

"Y/N! Sage! Skye! Welcome to your new focus room. Skye and Sage, you may have noticed the edition of this magical, galaxy, tapestry- it's for Y/N to focus and hone in on her powers and abilities. So the reason why you are all here is because you have one common power that we are aware of, healing others. Yes, there are some self-healing agents that are very powerful- but the three of you require a lot more focus and care when dealing with other agents."

Sage and Skye nodded at him, being familiar with the room and their powers. You stood between them feeling a little left out, your thoughts drifted back to another place. Your powers are definitely related to the stars, this excites you a lot! No denying the root of your power was something massive and unexplainable.

"Sage, would you like to demonstrate a healing ability first?" Brimstone asked Sage, the confidence in his tone solidifying Sage's reliability and power.

"Of course." She holds out a smooth, jade orb that had been attached to her belt. In a swift and precise motion she had pulled the energy from the crystal and projected it toward Brimstone. His expression was proud as he clapped in her direction. (no, not his cheeks yall) The orb continued to levitate above her palms until she seemed to consciously return into her hands.

You were awestruck by what you'd just seen. Yes you knew about radiant powers, but you'd never seen one like this right up close. "Sage, that was freaking cool! Can you do it again??" You practically begged her to do it again, intrigued by how she did it.

"Well- I..." Sage looked in Brimstone's direction hesitantly, he nodded at her with a smile.

"Of course Y/N, I'm happy to see you so interested!" Sage seemed to have a light blush across her face as she picked out another Jade orb, using a different type of movement and levitating the orb around in an impressive dance-like way.

You follow her movements, leading your interest in developing your own healing ability. "Alright, good work Sage!" Brim says, Sage putting her orb away.

"Alright alright Sage, very cool and all, but I'm gonna show Y/N my way." Skye announces with an excited grin, turning toward a small tree sapling.

"Alright, so I can use most flowers or plants for healing. There are tons of one's around but I tend to carry around branches of wattle flowers (these little, yellow, fluffy things).

You nodded in her direction. "That's cool Skye, let's see it then!" She smirks at you, clearly confident with what she was doing, you watch her toned arm muscles flex as she levitates the flowers off the branch carefully and extracts a blue-yellow power from them. Unlike Sage, Skye used raw power, replacing elegance with force. Her power did look stronger, you admitted, watching Skye concentrate.

"See Y/N there's always balance with these powers, for Skye she exerts more power, and so she can heal many at once, though for a very limited duration. Similarly, Sage can restore lost life, but it requires a lot of energy and work on her part." Brimstone says, noticing your state of deep thought.

You nod back to him, more curious about your own healing, how would it work? What would be lost to give you your power. You watch Skye's face pale as she finally returns the flowers perfectly back onto their branch.
