Dustin Henderson idolised his older sister, Y/N. He also idolised Steve Harrington, who just happened to be Y/N's boyfriend. When one of them or both of them were hurting in some way, it hurt him too. Such was the case as he raced into Family Video, tears falling from his eyes. The place was empty, except for Robin, who was sitting at the store's computer, randomly clicking at things, looking half asleep. The bang of the door opening pulled her out of her stupor.
'Hey dingus! You trying to knock the door off it's hinges?' She said before turning to look at Dustin, and realising he was upset. 'Dustin? What's wrong? What's happened?'
'Steve, is Steve here? I need to see him.'
'Yeah, he's out the back, I'll go grab him.'
Robin went through the staff door and was back in seconds with Steve following close behind her.
'Henderson? What is it? What's happened? Is it Y/N?'
'I'm sorry Steve, I'm so sorry....' Dustin started as the tears started to wrack his body again.
'Henderson!' Steve said more sternly, 'What is it? You're scaring me.'
'It's Y/N, she's had an accident, she's in the hospital....' Dustin managed to get out in between sobs
'What? Are you fucking kidding me? What happened?' Steve asked, almost yelling at Dustin.
Robin found Steve's car keys and slapped them into his hand.
'Dustin is clearly upset, dingus, take him to the hospital and go see Y/N, I'll manage here - it's not like we're run off our feet.'
Steve looked down at the keys in his hand and back up at Robin, struggling to get any words out, his mouth moving like he was a goldfish. Robin grabbed him and shoved him towards the door, where Dustin was already making his way out. Steve tripped over his own feet in his attempt to race out of the front door, as Robin ran a hand through her hair, letting out a large puff of air.

The trip to the hospital was quiet, Steve was concentrating on getting there as quickly as possible while Dustin tried to control his tears and his breathing. (It was rather unusual for these two to be in a car together and not talk.) Steve almost ran to the entrance of the hospital, with Dustin constantly trying to catch up to him. He startled the nurse on duty behind the glass in the emergency room when he asked, almost demanded where Y/N was and what had happened to her.
'I'm sorry sir, unless you are family, I can't tell you anything.'
'I'm her boyfriend, does that not count?' Steve asked, getting more and more agitated.
'No, sorry.'
'This is her brother, can you tell him what's going on??' He asked, shoving the younger Henderson towards to window.
'I'm sorry, as a minor, I'm not allowed to advise you anything either.'
'This is bullshit, why can't we find out what's wrong with her? Is her mother here? Does she know?' Steve asked, not hiding his frustration and anger
'Yes, I believe Mrs Henderson is here, if you would like to go and sit in the waiting room, I will have someone go get her for you.' The nurse said, in a timid voice, scared of upsetting Steve any further.
Steve thumped the counter startling the nurse before leading Dustin down towards the waiting room. They were about to walk in when they saw Hopper walk out of a room further down the corridor. Both boys started to race towards him before he put his hand up and stopped them.
'Into the waiting room guys, now!' Hopper said, making the turnaround motion with his hand as he walked towards the room too.
Both Steve and Dustin started bombarding him with questions as soon as they were in the room and the door was closed.
