—Thursday Night, 8:02pm—
——"I'm leaving for a bit," Puppet said, walking down the stairs and towards the exit of the bar.
"Remember to be back by 10 o'clock." Kurogiri reminded from his usual place behind the counter. "The rest of the League will be here."
She hummed in acknowledgment. "I shouldn't be gone for more than an hour and a half. I'm just going to go hunting for a bit." She opened the door and walked out of the bar.
———
It had been a dull night for soul hunting. After about an hour of looking, Puppet had only found and obtained five souls. Now it was dark, and she was walking on the sidewalk of a deserted street.
I have to start heading back, she thought. I can travel faster on the rooftops.
She went to use her quirk to shoot strings from her hand and to the rooftops of the buildings next to her, but nothing happened.
Her stomach flipped. I didn't expect him to be here.
Peering over a roof's edge, Eraser Head's glowing red eyes watched the villain walking through the alleyways below. His hair was floating in the air and his goggles were up over his eyes.
After a week he'd finally found her; after wandering around less populated areas, he'd finally found her soul hunting.
He followed her from above as she kept walking through alleyways, unknowing that he'd just made a detrimental mistake that gave away his presence.
Puppet knew that she needed to stay relaxed so that the pro hero would think that she hadn't yet noticed him. Stealth wouldn't work against an opponent who had good battlefield awareness.
She turned and walked into an alley, cornering herself for him — giving him the ideal situation. Now would be the time that he would attack.
"You've lost your touch, Eraser," she projected, her voice echoing in the quiet dead end of the alleyway. "Could it be your time as a teacher has made you rusty?"
Knowing he was discovered, Eraser Head wasted no time. He quickly jumped down at her from the rooftops, aiming a kick at her head.
Swiftly, Puppet dodged and grabbed his ankle, flinging him behind her towards the opening of the alley.
He landed in a crouch and stood back up straight.
"How long have you been trying to track me down?" she asked.
He stayed silent.
So he's here because of his grudge against me, she concluded.
"Do I really get on your nerves so much that you would come after me personally?" She smiled. "I'm touched. Does my capture really mean that much to you?"
Not wasting a moment, Eraser Head rushed at Puppet. He wasn't going to go for a long drawn-out fight against her, which was smart on his part.
She pulled the dagger from her boot and held it at the ready as the hero flung two ends of his scarf at her. She cut one with the dagger and let the other grab a hold of her wrist.
His fighting style wasn't suited to go against her. With his capture weapon being a lot like the string aspect of the villain's quirk, it was easy for her to manipulate his scarf a way that she needed to benefit her.
Puppet tugged Eraser Head's scarf towards her and pulled him forward quicker than he would have expected.
She made the crucial mistake of underestimating just how skilled pro heroes were. He used the momentum to his advantage and swung past her. Pivoting while still in the air, he kicked her in the back of the head.
