It was an hour before lunchtime on Sunday before all the members of UA's Start Class were up and about. The girls had all opted to visit the hot spring early before Mineta woke up. Refreshed and glowing most were now scattered amongst their classmates in various locations around the resort.
Mina and Jiro were with the rest of the Baku-Squad sitting around the outdoor walkway that wrapped around the building watching the coy pond in the garden. Their leader leaned back against a pillar as far from his redheaded best friend as possible while dozing somewhat peacefully. Everyone assumed he was tired from the late night gathering while unaware that he had taken one of his prescription sleeping pills at nearly four am. They were lucky he was somewhat upright and not murderous. Kirishima and the rest of the group chose life and limb and left him to his nap while engaging in a rather heated debate about the best way to prepare the colorful fish for a meal. The creatures in question seemed.... can fish look nervous?
Uraraka, Tsu and Yaoyorozu were with Todoroki in the lounge playing Othelo and discussing possible changes to their hero costumes. Hagakure, the last lady of 2A, was with her boyfriend wandering the grounds and exploring. Tokoyami was in his room meditating alone while the rest of the class boys were now enjoying the springs. Except Minoru. His disappointment at having missed his chance to spy on the ladies earlier resulted in a gloom cloud huddled in the corner.
The most vertically challenged member of the class was so busy pouting and plotting on how to catch the class females the next time they bathed that he missed all the fuss happening in the water. It seemed everyone's favorite freckled Broccoli Lord was sporting several very pronounced and somewhat angry looking red bruises on his chest. Questions were flying about why he had not seen Recovery Girl before the trip. Some expressed concern over the intensity of his individual training Friday evening.
He did his best to assuage their concerns by explaining that he usually went to see her on the weekend if need be but couldn't this time due to the sudden trip. He did his best to reassure his friends that the very minor injuries did not hurt and weren't as bad as they looked but Ida was skeptical. The always serious Class Pres wanted to have a word with their mentor about healthy training limits. Izuku just wanted them all to stop staring at his hickies before they realized they weren't bruises caused by training at all.
When lunchtime came everyone gathered back in the small restaurant they had eaten dinner in the night before and a now familiar awkwardness quickly descended. All morning the usually bubbly Uraraka and Kirishima had both been uncharacteristically quiet. One was focused on gathering her nerve to confess to her crush. The other was trying to process his revelation from the previous evening and find a way to accept that the focus of his own infatuation was forever out of his reach.
Deciding she had had enough of the awkward tension she completely did not understand, Mina jumped up from her seat startling everyone. "We're here to fix this- this-" Waving her arms in the air the pinkette was at a loss of how to describe the current atmosphere.
"Situation délicate?" A slyly smiling Aoyama offered by way of assistance.
"Yes, that! I think? The weirdness. Obviously something happened between you two-" Pointing to both Kirishima and Midoriya as the horned teen continued. "and it's affecting the whole class so I think we need another group game to get our collective groove back!" Clasping her hands together at the thought of her own brilliance, the eager youth beamed at her friends. Nods and murmurs of agreement made the rounds until the class Pomeranian noticed a look of sadness on his partner's face. His best friend wasn't looking too hot either if he was being honest.
"Oi Raccoon eyes, the Nerd didn't do anything. Neither did Shitty Hair so don't go blaming them just cause the rest of you extras are sheeple." Crossing his arms and glaring at his supposed pink-skinned squad mate, the blonde wanted everyone mad at him rather than the other two. This is bullshit. Can't let these assholes blame Deku, he won't be able to handle everyone being mad at him. Eijiro is taking this whole thing hard. I can't give his ass what he wants but I sure as fuck don't have to let Pinky make it worse damnit.
"Ashido was merely voicing the situation we are all quite aware of Bakugo. No one is being attacked so there is no cause to be defensive." Seated between Tenya and his girlfriend, Shoto spoke in his usual emotionless tone. Poor guy was genuinely confused by the blonde's seemingly disproportionate reaction.
"Aaaaaanyway~ I like Mina's idea! So let's do it! Some group bonding and all like when we all played 2 truths! Or back at our training with the Pussy Cats!" The smack that met the back of Denki's head came not from the suddenly stiff and bristling more than usual leader of his squad, but from the purple haired girl he always tried so hard to impress.
"Dumbass. Ignore him Bakugo, you know how he can be. But they do have a point. At the rate we're all going we might as well invite Monama to join the class." Murmurs of agreement followed Jiro's words as everyone made their way back to the lounge. When the group arrived they began to position themselves around in a large circle. "Mina this was YOUR idea, so what are we playing?"
"I propose a double feature: Seven minutes and truth or dare. And we use the age-old tradition of a bottle to pick who goes so it's all fair." Blank stares of confusion confirmed no one had a clue what the pinkette meant. "Uggg ok, I'll explain. First we spin to see who gets paired up for seven minutes. While they are in-" Looking for a suitable space the excited girl pointed to the common area lavatory. "There, we spin again to play truth or dare."
"So two games at once?"
"Yes! Technically we'll be practicing time management! Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic will be proud." The horned teen was ever so pleased with her idea and seeing no objections, even from her ruby-eyed pseudo leader, she continued. "I'll start so I'll spin twice. First person it lands on gets to go with me, the second gets to spin and do a truth or dare with whoever THEY get." Without waiting for anyone to reply the bubbly acid quirk user grabbed a water bottle from a low table and spun it on the floor. "First is... Kiri! You're with me babe. And... Kota, you get to spin for your T or D buddy. Momo, can you make us a timer for seven minutes?"
"Certainly." A pair of small digital timers appeared from the raven haired youth's forearm moments later. "One to put inside the room and one for the group outside."
"Perfect! Ok Big Red, let's go!" Grabbing her friend by the hand, Mina drug the reluctant boy to the small room as the class's most gentle member spun the bottle, smiling softly when it landed on Sato. As the door to the private room closed the timer started and the yellow and black eyed teen wasted no time grilling her companion. "Spill. Why have you been avoiding Izuku and why is Baku-hoe avoiding YOU?" Light hearted and upbeat demeanor completely gone, the frustrated female all but glared at her suddenly blushing friend.
Still not sure if he should confide in anyone, having promised not to, the redhead scratched the back of his head and tried to fake his usual smile. "I don't know what you're on about Mina. I haven't been-"
A sudden slap across the face stopped the lie on his tongue before he could finish it. "Don't lie to me Eijiro. Right now my friends are obviously hurting and I can't do anything to help them if I don't know what is going on." Crossing her arms, the pink skinned girl did her best to hold back tears of frustration. Seeing the sharp-toothed boy in front of her do the same somehow made the pieces click together in her head. She may not be book smart - understatement - but she could read people with an almost psychic-like ability.
"You confessed, didn't you?" Small nod. " And he turned you down?" Small nod. "Because he's already with Midoriya." It wasn't a question but still received a small nod in confirmation. "Damn! How did I not see THAT?! I mean if you think about it it's super obvious. He's so Mr. Mom with Mido it would be weirder if he WASN'T into him."
Reaching out, she embraced her friend as he held his slightly stinging cheek and ran her hand over his non-styled hair. "Talk to me Ei. Please?"
"Please don't say anything Mina. I promised I wouldn't tell anybody." Still holding the deceptively strong female close, Kirishima's voice sounded almost broken to her in the confines of the small space.
