Jiro twirled her earphone jack around her finger with one hand as she leaned her chin on the other. She was sitting on the floor in the common area with the rest of the Baku-squad having an oddly serious conversation about the sudden school break that would be starting in less than ten minutes. "You're wrong. I've always found it odd. I mean, think about it: UA started the dorm system last year because of all the attacks on our class, right? So the goal was to try and keep all the aspiring future Pro Hero's safe. But then we still go on class trips and we still go home for breaks and can go off campus whenever we want as long as we tell them where we're going. Now we are all getting a week to go visit our families just out of the blue for no reason when summer break is only a month away?"
Mina sat up taller from her spot leaning on her redheaded friend's shoulder. "But our time off has always been different from other high schools so we take breaks at different times than they do. Nobody aside from the staff here knows when we'll be leaving campus so it would be hard to coordinate any kind of attack even when we do leave campus and no-." Shifting her focus temporarily towards her unofficial leader, Ashido made a point to be specific. "-that incident at the mall last year with Mido and the Handy Man does NOT count. That was a freak accident and we could run into any Villain at any place so it doesn't count." Her black and yellow eyes searched her classmates for any sign of agreement but found only looks of consideration. And the back of one electric quirk user's head.
"Three letters my dude: USJ." Holding up three fingers in the air as he spoke, Kaminari's voice was somewhat muffled due to his position lying face down on the plush couch.
Kirishima closed his eyes as he grabbed his chin in concentration. Reflecting on his friend's words he knew the blonde spoke the truth, but also understood the uniqueness of the situation that kick-started the school's heightened security measures last year. "True. But that was a one off too and they found the tracker that leaked the info for the lesson plan that day. Besides, I heard Nezu completely changed the notice system. That's why they don't tell us about this kind of stuff until just before. Remember that onsen trip a few months back? Mr. Aizawa told us just the day before then too."
"Kiri's right man. Hell, we JUST found out we're getting a week off like an hour ago and we're leaving in five minutes with Apenture's portals. Not even taking the trains." Leaning over the back of the couch with Bakugo, Sero kicked the packed bag by his feet for emphasis.
"We're going to be Heros. We will always be targets but no Villain groups have been specifically targeting us since those LOV asshats were dealt with, so there's no reason to continue keeping us isolated. When we go as a group we're a big target so we always have at least 2 Pros with us. Or have you idiots not noticed that? As for this forced fucking family bonding bullshit, they clearly think we'll all be safer at home than we would be here. There's something going on we don't know about." Katsuki's voice was low and almost disinterested. If he hadn't been looking right at Kyouka the group might have assumed he was talking to himself like his freckled boyfriend. "And now we get a bonus portal trip for it. Fucking wonderful."
Sitting up from his prone position across the arm of the couch, Kirishima turned to face his leader. "Speaking of: any tips about the portals Kat? Denks? Jiro? I'm kinda nervous about using them for the first time. Do they mess up your hair?"
"Don't call me that. And are you seriously more concerned with your fucking hair than the side effects of the damn portals?!?" Turning to face the dark eyed boy next to him for confirmation, Bakugo stared with an exasperated expression usually reserved for Deku's cooking lessons. But before said youth could reply the other blonde of the group spoke up.
"Take a sick bag Kiri. You're gonna need it." A not so reassuring affirmative nod from Sparky's totally not but definitely girlfriend was none too comforting to the three members of the group that always took the train to their internship assignments each week.
All members of class 2A were lounging around the wide open room with their bags waiting for the portal Hero to arrive and send them all home. It was Saturday and their ever stoic, if not bored and perpetually exhausted, homeroom teacher had gathered all his students together at noon. The ravenette told his students they would all be leaving for a week to spend time with their families before the next round of their regular academic term exams started up. The announcement was a complete surprise to everyone as they were told they would have one hour to pack and contact their families. Some were even going to have to spend the week with a friend since their families were not available and couldn't be home on such short notice. Uraraka was excited to visit Asui's family and Ojiro was finally going to introduce formally Hagakure to his parents.
"Alright everyone, please gather your belongings and line up. Aperture will be here any minute and we should all be ready for him." Several students looked at their class rep's customary robotic arm motions as he attempted to rally everyone to grab their bags.
He should really think about changing his hero name to Cyborg.
Some grumbled but complied as others kept their seats until the enthusiastic white clad Pro they were waiting for entered the dorm with a raven eyed barely conscious Ereaserhead. Seriously, Midoriya thought the man looked like he was being mind controlled to move and would drop any minute if not for that. I wonder if Shinso is going home this week too?
A stern look from the very over it teacher had the rest of the class stepping in line quickly. "You will be picked up next Sunday by one of the teachers from the school so it won't necessarily be me but it WILL be an instructor you are familiar with. You are NOT to return to campus before then so you better have all your things. You may take your hero costumes with you since you all have your provisional licenses but don't go out looking for trouble." The rather poignant look cast at several students in particular was in no way concealed by the apathetic wanna be caterpillar.
"You will not be attending your work study this week unless you have already been informed by your agency otherwise. Ida, please ensure everyone who is paired up travels together. Here are the groups and drop locations so Aperture doesn't need to make too many portals. See you all in a week." And just like that, a yellow sleeping bag seemed to materialize out of nowhere. Maybe the same mysterious power that summoned Nezu's tea cups?
It only took about half an hour for the tall portal Pro to transport everyone to the addresses designated by the school. Though most students would be returning to their family homes alone, many lived close enough together that they could easily walk from their drop point. A few were going to be picked up by eager parents. Seeing as they were practically next door neighbors the 'Wonder Duo' were one of the groups to travel together.
"Auntie Inko isn't home yet right?"
"No, mom won't be home till later tonight." The soft smile on the greenett's face betrayed his slight sadness. He was always happy to see his mom, but he was going to miss being able to spend every day with his feisty boyfriend. "Text me later?" Turning away and waving, the freckled boy began to walk towards his house before the sound of a gruff voice he knew by heart stopped him in his tracks.
"Come to my house, Nerd. The Old Hag should be there and she's been nagging me to bring you by next time we come home anyway. She hasn't seen you in almost what? Four or five years now? She wants to talk to you about UA and the agency. Apparently talking to her own son about it is not enough for her." Shoving the hand not holding the strap of the duffle flung over his shoulder deep in his pocket, Katsuki looked almost... embarrassed?
Taking in the slight pink tint on his handsome partner's face, Deku smiled brightly as he walked back to the taller teen. He loved the blonde's parents, especially his fiery mom. The two were truly cut from the same cloth. Almost instinctively he reached out to try and take the other's hand before he froze. Our parents! Should we tell them we're dating? Would they be ok with that? I don't think mom will be happy about it. I know she would never say anything negative as long as I'm happy, but that doesn't mean SHE will be happy. I'm sure she's going to be disappointed I'm not with someone like Ura. Will she even be ok with me having a boyfriend at all?
