Chapter 12: Well, that was awkward...

So, it was almost noon and I was about to head to the mall to meet Nicki and me being nervous was an understatement. I wasn't going to dress like it was an actual date so I threw on some jeans and a band tee. As I was waiting for it to get closer to the time I told Nicki I would meet her, I thought about my first real date with Dinah.

Yesterday after school she took me to this carnival a few hours away. The carnival was sort of corny and cliche, but to be able to act like Dinah was really my girlfriend out in public was more than enough. We went on all the rides there. She even won me a prize. It was this little lion with a pink mane. She said that it would remind me of her.

I won her something too. A monkey with the hands and feet that linked together. I told her that now whenever she's feeling lonely she can latch it to herself to remember my clingyness. She laughed at me but still said she would do it. We ended the night very cliché and kissed at the top of the Ferris Wheel.

While we were on top of the Ferris Wheel, after we kissed, I felt that feeling again. But it was stronger. It scared me a little because I only felt this one other time and it ended horribly. I was looking into her eyes and I could feel myself wanting to tell her exactly how I felt but the words got caught in my throat. She could see my struggle in my face and kissed me again. After she pulled away she told me that I didn't have to say anything.

"It would probably make this a little too cliche and no one would believe us once we tell them anyway."

It made me laugh and also blush. I didn't say anything but I sure did catch her say "once we tell". To me, it showed how long she expected us to last. And since I was still 17 and she was still my teacher, it would for sure take some time. All in all though it was amazing. Definitely one of the best nights of my life.

Slowly coming out of my thoughts I saw that I had to start heading to the mall. I huffed and went to tell my mom bye along with Matt and Alicia.

Arriving at the mall I walked through the Forever 21 store in order to reach the actual mall. Knowing Nicki she was probably at Spencer's, so I went there first.

Sure enough she was there in the far back of the store. Of course.

"Ever not thinking about sex?"

I asked as I walked up and stood a few feet behind her. She jumped at first startled but then smiled when she saw it was me.

"Well why not?" She says smirking. "I mean they do have The Christian Grey Tie."

She said as she held up they gray tie in the Fifty Shades paper wrapping. I rolled my eyes at her and the piece of clothing.

"Wow. Anything for money, huh?"

"You used to like the story."

"That doesn't mean I would actually use it."

Well, I mean if Dinah ever wanted to-- wait I can't go there right now.

"Oh come on. You used to think these things would be sexy. Especially on me if I remember correctly."

She said smirking. I just looked at her then rolled my eyes and walked out of the store. I heard her cussing at herself then running to catch up with me.

"Wait! I'm sorry okay. That was out of line."

Now I was just ready to get this over with.

"Whatever." I said and started to walk. She quickly came up next to me. For a few minutes it was just silence until she spoke.

"So... how have you been since I last saw you?" Deciding to answer truthfully I replied.

"Actually, extremely well. It was a little bumpy for a while but it got really great really fast."
