Jungkook smiled and his gaze fixed on his roommate's lips. "In that case... I might as well make one last mistake before I die," Jungkook whispered softly. Slowly, almost hesitantly, he moved another tiny fraction closer and their lips finally touched in a kiss.

[...]

The next morning, Jungkook slowly opened his eyes, his head throbbed like hell and his mouth felt like he had crossed the Sahara. A low, pained groan escaped his lips as he carefully sat up, holding his temple with trembling hands. The dull pain in his skull seemed to spread throughout his body, and every movement was agony. But he couldn't help but stand up and let his tired eyes wander around the room. It took him a painfully long moment to realize that he was in his own bed, where he hadn't slept for days.
But then his eyes suddenly widened in surprise and his heart began to pound wildly. The memories of yesterday pierced his mind like a bolt of lightning.
The kiss.
Taehyung.
The open road.
Jungkook could literally feel his cheeks redden slightly.
Instinctively, his fingers slid to his lower lip, still feeling the soft tingle of Taehyung's lips. Unconsciously, he licked it with his tongue, as if he couldn't let go of the memory of that moment. A feeling of confusion flowed through him.
Had he really done that?
Was he really that drunk?
Had he let his emotions get so carried away that he had just kissed Taehyung like that?

He ran his trembling fingers through his tousled hair, desperately trying to organize his thoughts. Suddenly, a shiver ran down Jungkook's spine and he immediately felt all over his body to check for any supposed pain, to make sure Taehyung hadn't beaten the living daylights out of him. When he didn't notice anything painful other than his head, he sighed in relief.
Grumbling, he held his head again and let himself fall back into his soft pillows, putting both arms over his face. "I'll never drink again," Jungkook murmured quietly to himself as he exhaled heavily.
"I should hope so. Next time, I'll leave you miserable on the street," the blonde suddenly heard his roommate's voice. Jungkook jumped up and sat bolt upright in bed as he looked at Taehyung, who went to the closet. "And before you think I've been nice to you, forget it. I only dragged you along because I didn't know how to get home myself," Taehyung added in his usual cool and monotone as he grabbed clothes from the closet.

Jungkook felt his heart pounding hard against his chest as he lowered his gaze. His cheeks were still glowing with embarrassment and his heart seemed to be beating up to his neck, roaring like a loud bass in his ears. He didn't really dare ask how he got into his own bed or what the kiss was all about. But his mouth was quicker than his mind. "How... did I get into my bed?" he finally stammered, and the confusion in his voice was unmistakable.
"Actually, I dropped you off at the bottom of the stairs, and if it had been up to me, I would have left you there," he began to explain. "But your father seemed to have other plans, for whatever reason he was still awake at three in the morning. He took you upstairs and decided to put you in your bed." Taehyung closed the closet door after selecting his clothes and turned to Jungkook. "You'll have to remake the bed later," the dark-haired man added. "I'm certainly not going to sleep in it after you've been in it."

The blond swallowed hard. This was the Taehyung he knew - an arrogant asshole. But strangely, he also felt a sense of relief that Taehyung was talking to him normally in a way. Didn't Taehyung remember the kiss? Actually, Jungkook had expected to wake up on a cloud as an angel and not in his own bed.
"Are you... not mad at me?", Jungkook finally dared to ask, his voice shaking with uncertainty. Taehyung replied with a stern tone, raising the volume of his normally calm voice an octave, "Of course I am!"
An ice-cold shiver ran through the blond's veins and he felt a slight fear.Immediately, Jungkook literally jumped out of bed and bowed a clean 90 degrees to the dark-haired one."I'm sorry for kissing you. Please don't kill me.I'll do anything you want," Jungkook suddenly stammered very quickly.Taehyung, who actually wanted to continue speaking, was overwhelmed by this sudden desperation and stared at his host brother with a mixture of confusion and disgust."I..." Taehyung began and had to realize what Jungkook was saying. "I... I was drunk and my emotions were all mixed up because of Taemin. It was a mess inside me and the kiss just came over me. I didn't mean to kiss you, I really didn't," Jungkook confessed, his gaze lowered as he still bowed and avoided looking at Taehyung.

When Taehyung regained his composure, a shiver ran through him, causing his whole body to tremble uncomfortably. He rubbed his arms in disgust, as if he had rolled in mud. "I honestly don't know what disgusts me more. Your idea that I would ever let you kiss me or the fact that you would even dream such a thing about me," Taehyung said with a hint of horror in his voice.
Jungkook was confused and lifted his head to look at Taehyung after all. "A dream?" The confusion in his voice was obvious. "Didn't we kiss?"
"If you had even tried to kiss me, I would have ripped your head off," the dark-haired man replied, his face twisted in disgust. "You're so damn disgusting, I'd have to behead you for that alone..." Taehyung muttered before turning around abruptly and leaving the room before he could make good on his threat.

Jungkook was left alone in his room and fell onto the bed, exhausted, while he tried to sort out the confusion in his head.
Was this really just a dream?
It felt so incredibly real that he could hardly imagine it was mere reverie. The memories of it seemed to linger in his mind as clearly and vividly as if they had actually happened in reality.
He stroked his lips in stress and pressed his hand against his forehead as if trying to sort out the thoughts inside. "A dream?" he murmured quietly to himself as he desperately tried to remember the details. But as he did so, he realized that he couldn't actually remember much at all. He still remembered talking to his ex-boyfriend and how he had thrown him completely off course, after which he had started drinking with Jimin. But at a certain point, everything was just a black hole.
Did he really forget the whole evening after the conversation?

The blond just couldn't help himself - he had to keep questioning Taehyung. If it was all just a dream, he wouldn't behead him - after all, nothing had happened, right? At least that's what he tried to tell himself. So he stood in front of the bathroom door, his heart racing with excitement, and for some inexplicable reason, he felt nervous, which gave him a queasy feeling in his stomach.
When Taehyung finally opened the door and came out, Jungkook immediately took a step forward and blocked his path, looking at him pleadingly. "Taehyung, tell me," he urged sternly. "About yesterday, what happened?" Taehyung frowned as he looked to the smaller ones. With a wave of his arm, he pushed the blond aside so that he could leave the bathroom without giving an answer.
But Jungkook didn't let up. When Taehyung wanted to leave the room, he awkwardly grabbed his hand and prevented him from going any further. "Please! What happened after I drank with Jimin?" Jungkook pleaded almost desperately.
Taehyung felt the pressure in Jungkook's grip and looked at her hands. Jungkook immediately realized what he was doing and let go of him with a soft "I'm sorry".

There was silence between them for a while, and Taehyung finally sighed. "You got drunk with your pink-haired friend. At some point, you started crying and I had to drag you home. I almost just left you on the street. You fell asleep on the bus and I had to carry you," Taehyung actually summarized for the blonde.
Jungkook lowered his gaze to the ground in shame, feeling the shame rising in him as his cheeks turned slightly pink. "Your lucky I get friendlier after a few drinks. Otherwise, I probably really would have just left you there," the dark-haired one added.
Jungkook felt equally relieved and embarrassed by Taehyung's revelation. Jungkook couldn't bear the look and lowered his eyes to the ground in shame. "I'm so sorry, Taehyung," he murmured softly.
Another sigh escaped Taehyung, accompanied by a roll of his eyes. "Honestly, I'm just glad you didn't puke all over me, as dense as you were," he confessed, shaking his head slightly. "Your crying was really embarrassing," he added.
"If that's it, go remake the bed instead of breaking your head," Taehyung said and finally left the room.
