Zeus appeared, sitting down at his desk and just looking at Merle.
Merle shook his head. "I'm still your older brother. Whatever you're doing isn't going to intimidate me-"
Zeus slammed his hands on the desk, and thunder could be heard outside at the same time. Storms weren't supposed to be possible in unreality, but Zeus could cause them when he was pissed off.
"Grace is my responsibility, Merle. She views me as her father now, which is... More than I could've ever hoped for. You did that the same way Ambros would've done it - over the top and pushing her beyond her limits," Zeus said, glaring at him. "Grace was already traumatized by the incident where the dimension reset, not to mention the most recent incidents with the afterlife and her almost dying and destroying the entire dimension with her! What made you decide that pushing her with an actual threat was a good idea when she's struggled to overcome so many other challenges?!"
Merle sighed. "I did what Ambros would've done because we were trained the same way. I'm sure you remember it too. We were trained in a week then sent off to fight dad's war. It probably wasn't as hard for you because you were created much later and had plenty of team mates. It started off with just me, Ambros, and dad. So... I trained Grace the same way - sink or swim. It's what I know, and it worked for me."
Zeus sighed, rubbing his head. "That method was unfair to all of us, Merle. Just because it worked doesn't mean it's a good practice or that everyone can manage to do that. You have to remember how fragile Grace is. She was raised by abusive human parents who destroyed her self-confidence! You know... The key to our powers, along with creativity? Grace is not like us, and that's not a bad thing."
Merle shrugged. "Debatable. Just because her other half stepped in doesn't mean she's prepared to do her job correctly and effectively."
Zeus narrowed his eyes. "That's not your concern. I'll be taking over her training. She's no longer your responsibility. If you ever pull anything like that with her again..."
"What? What will you do?" Merle challenged, rolling his eyes.
"Don't do something where you'll find out," Zeus said calmly. "You'll regret it. That's all I'll say. Now get out of my office!"
Merle huffed. "Gladly. Good luck with the kid, Zeus. She needs all the help she can get!"
Merle walked out, slamming the door. Zeus took a deep breath, rubbing his head. Poor Grace... He would take care of her training from now on, despite how busy he already was managing reality.
