Track 5: Feint

IORI'S POV:

I stretch my arms and feet before I enter the car. My body was very tired because of the amount of shopping Michael and I had done earlier. Before he left, we arranged everything I would need while I was in his possession at the Kurusaki condominium.

He also decided to let me use his room since iisang kwarto lang naman ang laman ng condo niya kaya pinagsama na lang namin ang damit ko sa walk-in closet niya.

"Nervous?" Tanong sa akin ni Thud nang makalapit ito.

He's kind of annoying sometimes but Ruax told me that its his nature. Masyado raw talagang feeling close si Thud pagdating sa babae.

"No. I am used to it."

"I didn't know that you were the daughter of one of the famous female car racers during the 90's. Sad to say she died before she reached the finish line."

Umangat ang kanang kilay ko habang nag-stretching ako ng mga kamay.

"Did you just research me?"

"Don't get me wrong about it, Iori. Before you signed the contract we already knew about it since ikaw lang naman ang Morimoto dito sa mundo bukod sa Mommy mo."

He's right. My Mom and Dad didn't marry before I was born. Iniwan na kami ni Dad bago pa ako mamulat sa mundong ibabaw at wala akong ideya kung na saan siyang lupalop. Kahit sa side ng family ni Mommy ay wala akong kakilala.

"Okay lang since tanggap ko naman na wala na ang Mommy ko."

Thud shrugged his shoulder as he called out the other guys who should compete with me.

"So since this is a practice game, might as well give me your shot. Get ready yourself to enter the tracks speeders."

Sabay-sabay kaming pumunta nina Ruax, Griffin, at Astaroth sa sari-sarili naming kotse. Gaya ng request ko kay Thud, ang lamborghini na ginamit ko sa street drag race ang gagamitin ko ngayon hanggang sa kompitesyon bukas kaya kailangan kong ikondisyon ang sarili ko at ang sasakyan.

Samantalang kina Ruax, Astaroth at Griffin ang gamit nila ay Chevrolet Corvette, Audi TT at Porsche Buxter.

Ipinasak ko sa ignition ang susi at saka ko binomba ang accelerator nito. I really love the sound of its engine and so as the other cars beside me. Sa iisang linya nakahilera ang mga sasakyan namin. Mula sa kanan naroon sng Audi TT ni Griffin, Porsche Buxter ni Ruax, Chevrolet Corvette ni Astaroth at Lamborghini sa akin.

I grip the steering wheel tightly as I stare at the warning sign. As the green light appears, all of us stomp the accelerator as we speed up inside the circuit. Nanguna si Griffin sa amin at halos bugahan niya kami ng alikabok. Nakasunod lang din sa kanya si Astaroth at Ruax.

"You find it hard to escape from them, Morimoto?" Pang-aasar na sambit ni Thud gamit ang voice recognition ng sasakyan.

"Shut up, Thud. I am not started yet."

Sa unang kurbada agad kong tinapakan ang clutch at hinila ang gear shift at saka ko pinasibad ang kotse. Nagkapalit kami ng posisyon ni Griffin at ako na ngayon ang nasa unahan nila.

"Chill, Iori. Hindi namin minamaliit ang kakayahan mo." Natatawang sambit ni Ruax.

Mukhang lahat sila ay konektado sa system ng sasakyan.

In the second curve, I use Feint drift, a powerful rally racing technique that involves expertly rocking the car towards the outside of a turn before using the rebound of grip to throw the car into the normal cornering direction. It's a highly effective way to change vehicle attitudes during cornering. And when Astaroth and Griffin couldn't keep up with me, I confidently manoeuvred the engine and started the car without hesitation.
