"And if I show you my dark side,
will you still hold me tonight?"

The whole of Hogwarts seemed to know about Maxon and they didn't even try to hide the fact. Serena tried to keep an upright posture amidst all the stares and whispers, but inwardly she was still slumping her shoulders. How could she not think about it when she was always reminded of it?

A broken heart took the longest to heal, at least that's what Hailey had said and slowly Serena began to believe this theory. The bite mark on her neck had almost completely disappeared thanks to Madam Pomfrey, but tiny light pink scars would remain where the sharp teeth had pierced her skin.

She hadn't spoken to Hall since the hospital wing and he hadn't given her a glance. Serena accepted that he needed time to lick his wounds. That he wasn't yet ready to take off his perfect mask like many Slytherins wore. But it had already cracked in the infirmary the night Snape had locked her in the dungeons, and it might not be long before it began to crumble.

At least Serena hoped that it did and that it wasn't just another, more put-upon face.

For this reason, she also avoided contact, because she simply couldn't forget Hailey's words. The Slytherin's behaviour had always been questionable, but perhaps it had always had a deeper meaning. Serena would be careful and not put her blind trust in him, because she had fallen flat on her face with that only days before. She wouldn't give it to the wrong person again.

Serena stared grimly at her sandwich at breakfast and was still lost in thought when she was brought back to the present by the morning post owls. She wasn't expecting a letter, but was all the more surprised when a brown tawny owl settled in front of Harry and numerous other owls gathered around her table with letters.

Puzzled, she watched as Harry opened a small parcel and a tightly rolled-up magazine rolled out. Hermione cupped both hands over her mouth and pointed excitedly at the headline of the February issue of the Quibbler.

Harry Potter finally spills the beans!
The truth about he who must not be named and the night I saw him come back.

Serena skimmed the article, it was the same facts Harry had told them immediately after the maze. He had left out nothing, not even a single name of the Death Eaters who had been there. Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Nott, Hall - the sons of the aforementioned were sitting unsuspectingly at the Slytherins' table, enjoying their breakfast. But the Gryffindor was sure that the carefree expression would not be on their faces for long.

She didn't want to imagine what effect the news would have on the Slytherins' minds. But she knew that there would be consequences, even if Harry had done the right thing in her opinion. The truth had to be told without the Ministry twisting his words around in his mouth.
