Wu-Tang Clan is playing on the radio, blasting 'C.R.E.A.M.' in the auto shop.
"Damn it," I grunt, as the diagnostic isn't what I hoped.Based on the OBD scan and the multimeters to troubleshoot the issues, the odds of repairing my father's car aren't looking too promising.
As I disappointingly sigh and toss the wrench back into the toolbox, someone hollers my name from the front of the auto shop."I'm in the back!" I shout, informing the visitor as I wipe the grease off my hands on my uniform, "Whoa!" I rush over to my brother when he enters the station with a medium-sized package, "What are you thinking? You aren't supposed to carry heavy things."
"It wasn't that heavy, Yoongi," Jungkook grins.
I snatch it from him and slam it on a nearby table, then I lower the volume of the music. His gaze is on the burned vehicle centered between us.
"Please, don't tell me a customer convinced you to take that beast on?"
I take my pocket knife out of my uniform and open the package.
"It was just sitting out there," Jungkook says while ambling over to me, "Don't delivery drivers usually have you sign? Not just drop it in the front?""We're closed today, Koo."
Since I obtained the auto shop after our father passed away, I've always kept it open. Sundays are the only day of the week I keep the place closed, and it's been that way since I learned Jennie is pregnant. She's currently thirteen weeks along, and I want to start a tradition with her and our child. Sundays are going to be a family day.
I retrieve the alternator from the box, "From now on the shop stays closed on Sundays," I inform Jungkook while I head to my office, "What are you doing here anyway?"
"I was in the neighborhood."
"Right... You had physical therapy today."
Jungkook stands by the door while I place the alternator on my desk, "So, what's the deal with the burned car out there?"
"You don't recognize it?"
"Am I supposed to?"
I walk back to the station and Jungkook is right behind me, as I explain, "Well, the police don't need it anymore for their investigation. They've released it to me. It's dad's car, Koo," he bewilderingly stares at the vehicle while I retrieve a screwdriver from the toolbox, "I've ordered some parts that have been too damaged--"
"But... Yoongi, it's all damaged."
"Yeah, well... It needs to be done."
I begin to unscrew the many parts within the hood. Jungkook circles the car, seemingly revisiting the events about the vehicle and his client's untimely death. I steal glances at him and notice him deep in thought. My gaze falls to his injured shoulder.
"How's the process?" I ask as I resume my work, hoping I can distract him.
"Huh?"
"Physical therapy, Koo. You went there today?"
"It's going better, yes. I can rotate my shoulder more. But, I was warned to not exercise without supervision," he says and appears behind me.
