"Shes sleeping" Cody said as he sat next to Shayla on the couch. "Wow how did you manage to do that?" Shayla chuckled. "I'm magical." Cody said with a grin as he ran his fingers through Shaylas hair. "I'm gonna go get a cookie" Shayla yawned as she got up and stretched. "Grab me a beer." Cody said as he slouched onto the couch. Shayla walked to the kitchen humming "Bruised and scarred" by Mayday Parade. Cody scratched his head then changed the channel on the TV. "Hey Cody" Shayla said walking back towards the couch. "There's no more beer so I'm gonna head out and get some." "Alright" Cody said as he closed his eyes. "Ill just chill for a while."
About ten minutes went by and Cody had drifted off to sleep. "Daddy!!! Mommy!!!" He heard Bethany scream and his eyes shot open. Smoke had filled the home and Bethany came crawling out of her room on fire. "Oh my god!" Cody screamed as he ran to Bethany and tried to stop the flames. He was inhaling so much smoke that he started to feel fatigued and eventually passed out.
SHAYLAS P.O.V
I ran up to my home and the flames were extinguished. The only side of the house that seemed to be affected was Bethanys room. My heart was pounding out of my chest. Thats when I saw it...Cody being wheeled into an ambulance. I dropped the bag of beer and ran up to my house. I was stopped by police officers a couple seconds later. "Please!" I cried. "What's wrong with my husband?" "He'll be fine" An officer said to me. Tears were pouring out of my eyes but suddenly stopped as i saw my daughter being wheeled into an ambulance as well. "That's my daughter!" I screamed then began to feel weak. The officers were talking to me but I couldnt make out what they were saying. Everything just went black.....
