"W-What!? B-But how--" Dorothy was at a loss for words.
"I supposed you're best friends with them. He chats a lot about you guys." Mandroid kept a straight face.
"T-That's a good point..." She nodded slowly, processing the revelation.
(Y/n) gulped nervously, understanding why the Arachnamechs followed her at the rail yard, where she met Hardtop and Swindle.
"Wait! Hold on! But what happened to your- er- (Y/n)'s family? What happened to your brother? Because he talked to me before about this unclear reason for these... tests." She waved her hands frantically, trying to let everything sink in.
"I've got into a fight with my brother... because I tried to save (Y/n) when she was young." He sighed. "I tried to save her from heart cancer, but since my brother got Energon Radiation and was miraculous to survive, his daughter wasn't so lucky as it passed on to her." He looked at his human hand as if he held the metal heart if he had it.
The ranger's eyes widened more at what happened with (Y/n) when she was a child. "She had heart cancer from Energon!?"
"Yes," Mandroid confirmed with a solemn nod. "It was a result of exposure to Energon radiation during the war. We did everything we could to save her, but... it wasn't enough." His voice faltered slightly, the pain of the past still evident in his eyes.
Dorothy's heart ached at the thought of the young (Y/n) battling such a devastating illness at such a tender age. "Poor thing," she murmured softly, her gaze drifting to the teen beside her.
(Y/n) remained silent, her expression unreadable as she listened to Mandroid's explanation. Her past revelation was overwhelming and surreal, and she struggled to process the emotions swirling within her.
She never felt anything wrong with her body when she had that radiation cancer... or at least she could remember from it. Maybe it was that heart murmur she sometimes felt...
"Anyway, after the war was over, I got into a fight with her parents, particularly her dad. It resulted in the tear and distance." Mandroid continued, his voice tinged with regret.
Dorothy's heart went out momentarily for Mandroid, realizing the depth of his guilt and remorse. But she remained silent, knowing that he was still an enemy today after he tried taking her Terrans away. "B-But why? What happened between you and your brother?" She continued.
Mandroid's expression darkened as he recounted the events that led to the rift between him and his brother. "We disagreed on handling (Y/n)'s illness when he retired. I... made a deal with G.H.O.S.T. that they could save her. But Taka... he was stubborn, determined to leave and retire, believing that it was the only way to protect her, away from the cooperation, and to find someone better."
"W-Wait, are you trying to say that G.H.O.S.T. is evil!?" The Ranger Malto raised an eyebrow with disbelief. She has been working with them as a job, but what could they ever do something so... despicable!?
