season two, episode seven
She could hear Rick confronting Hershel about the walkers in the barn, him pleading for Hershel to let him stay, him saying his wife was pregnant.
She found herself walking outside, toward the barn. She hadn't been inside, she hadn't seen. Otis was the one that handled them and she didn't care to participate.
Shane sat against the tractor, he pushed off of it and walked toward her.
"You knew about this?" He asked, his voice sounding scary. She took a step back and he laughed.
"You scared of me?" He asked walking closer to her.
"You're a guest here, this is Hershel's property. He can do as he pleases," she said making him shake his head.
"That's where you're wrong, my priority is Lori and Carl and I'll kill anyone and anything that threatens them," he said towering over her.
"I'll tell Rick," she said and he snatched her by the arms, pulling her against him, she thrashed in his hold.
"You say a word and you'll find yourself with Otis. You think I'm scared of you little girl? You think I'm scared of Rick? You're not that smart" he said as Rick walked toward them.
"Everything okay?" He asked, making Shane let her go. She nodded to Rick before walking off, feeling a bruise beginning to form where Shane had grabbed her.
She was scared of Shane, he was defiant and the threats he just made were enough to know that these people needed to leave.
Maggie found her on her way toward the house.
"My dad wants them gone," Maggie said upset, she was hoping Emory would be on her side but that hope quickly vanished.
"He's right," Emory said.
"What?".
"It's for the best, we don't know these people. I know you like Glenn but you have to trust me," she said.
"It's not about Glenn, we can't just send these people to die when we have the resources to help them," Maggie said but Emory just walked away from her. She loved Maggie deeply but once she had her mind made up, it was nearly impossible to get through to her.
She wasn't going to tell anyone what Shane had said. His people were well armed and she was sure they'd side with him, kill them even if it meant taking Hershel's property. She couldn't figure out Rick though, he seemed on opposing sides with Shane but she wondered if push came to shove would he stand beside Shane if he acted out on those threats.

Emory saw from her window, Shane handing out guns to his friends and she crawled under her bed. She grabbed her pistol and tucked in her waistband before running down the stairs and out the house.
