chapter six
bring it on
AS IVY STEPPED INTO THE GRANDEUR OF THE THRONE ROOM, she felt a sense of trepidation mingled with excitement coursing through her veins. The room was filled with an air of anticipation, the atmosphere electric with the presence of the Volturi Kings and their formidable Guard.
The room's towering walls were crafted from ancient stone, their surfaces etched with intricate patterns and symbols that seemed to speak of a long and storied history. Torch sconces lined the walls, casting flickering shadows across the chamber and lending an eerie glow to the proceedings. The floor of the chamber was paved with polished marble, its surface reflecting the dim light of the torches above.
Center of the room stood three thrones. Each throne was a work of art in its own right, its sleek lines and elegant curves lending an air of majesty to the chamber.
Aro stood at the center of the room, his crimson eyes alight with anticipation as he regarded Ivy with a proud smile. "Welcome, my dear," he greeted her, his voice echoing with authority.
Ivy's heart pounded in her chest as she glanced around the room, her gaze falling upon the unknown vampires who were looking at her with a mixture of curiosity and intrigue. Her eyes first found the two vampires sitting on the thrones. On the right, sat a vampire of a striking appearance, his features sharp, his gaze cold and calculating.
On the left throne sat another figure, his demeanor more subdued than his counterparts but no less imposing. His eyes were distant and contemplative as he gazed into the distance, lost in thought.
As Ivy's gaze swept across the thrones, her eyes settled upon the grand seat at the center of the room, realizing it belonged to Aro.
Her mind flashed back to the stories she had read as a child—tales of kings and queens, of knights and dragons, all set against the backdrop of a world steeped in myth and legend. In those stories, the thrones had always belonged to rulers, to those who wielded power and authority over vast kingdoms.
Now, as she stood in the presence of the Volturi, she couldn't help but draw parallels between the ancient tales of her childhood and the reality unfolding before her. The thrones, with their regal bearing and solemn grandeur, seemed to confirm what she had only begun to suspect—Aro was not merely a vampire, he was a king in his own right.
It reminded Ivy of Aro's promises when they first met, how he promised he could make her a queen. Now, as she stood in the throne room of the Volturi, surrounded by the trappings of ancient power, those promises echoed in her mind.
Aro motioned for her to approach. She was too focused on the thrones and on Aro to notice that middle of the room, on their knees, were three humans. Their eyes revealed that they weren't like Aro or the other vampires. Their faces were a mask of fear and uncertainty as they eyed Ivy and the others warily.
