Jungkook sat at his desk, thumping his fist against the surface in frustration. While on the phone, he had been multitasking, reviewing a new agreement for a deal to expand his company's presence in the EMEA region. He remarked to the person on the other end of the line, "He shared more information with you than Seokjin did with me."
"This is fucked up, Jungkook. I don't want to pick sides, but I can understand why he might have kept Hyunjae hidden from you. I get it now, even though I'm not saying it's okay. Wow, he's been through so much."
After hearing Seokjin's life story in its entirety, Yoongi felt a complex mix of emotions - sympathy and anger being the most prevalent. He was particularly outraged by the fact that every time he turned on the television in Seoul, he was inundated with images of Minjae's face, who was now gaining recognition nationwide for his political achievements.
"We have all been through a lot, and there was no reason for him to lie to me."
"Well, I didn't say it justified his actions, but I can see why he did it when I consider things from his point of view. It amazes me that he married you at all. I wouldn't want to date or be married to someone else if I were him."
All while Yoongi was talking, Jungkook was engrossed in reading his document, but he suddenly paused and decided to take a break. He leaned back in his comfortable home office chair, feeling the soft cushion supporting his back, allowing him to relax his sore muscles from his earlier workout. As the room grew warmer, he unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt, feeling the cool air brush against his chest and neck, and closed his eyes briefly before responding to Yoongi's comment.
"Well, you are not him. He saw an opportunity to have a future with me, which was smart. After all, it's me."
As Yoongi's eyes rolled, Jungkook could sense his annoyance even through the phone. "Are you paying attention to anything I'm saying? Did you hear what I said happened to Seokjin?" Yoongi asked, sounding frustrated.
"I heard you, loud and clear. So clear, I could reiterate it to you word for word."
"Are you going to do anything about it? Do you need me to do anything while I am here? I have to travel back by the end of the week." Yoongi asked with a sense of urgency in his tone, hoping Jungkook took his words seriously.
"How do you feel about Hoseok?"
Yoongi was confused by Jungkook's sudden shift in focus. "How did Hoseok's name and my feelings for him come into this?"
"Answer me, Yoongi. It's a question that I need an answer to."
"You think I work for you or something! And as for Hoseok, I do like him, but it's still new to me. Since I came back, we haven't really had a chance to talk about us, but I'm hoping we can before I leave. Especially since he's pregnant, I really want to know what he intends to do. I feel like things could work between us, but relationships are fucking complicated."
Yoongi had been struggling a lot with his feelings regarding Hoseok. Being involved with Hoseok was never his intention when he traveled to South Korea to do a favor for Jungkook. But it had come effortlessly, and he liked Hoseok's contrast between his vibrant energy and simplicity compared to other people he had dated. It was his first time spending days around someone and not getting annoyed by their presence.
Jungkook's serious tone echoed through the phone as he spoke firmly, "Humans are complicated, so it's hard to expect relationships to be any different. I am glad to hear you have that type of feeling for him. I hope it's enough for you to marry him because I want you to do that."
Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows and pressed the phone closer to his ear. He was so perplexed that he had to confirm if he had misheard Jungkook. With a hint of doubt in his voice, he asked, "What did you just say, Jungkook?"
