"I..." Staring up at the Autobot who loomed stories high in front of me, I gulped. Bumblebee could sure look intimidating when he wanted too. Something in my heart told me I should not explain what had happened last night-...not yet anyways.
"Well? What happened?" Bee demanded.
Biting my lip, I opened my mouth to speak. But Suddenly a voice rang out."y/N!!!"
Perfect timing mom! I thought to myself. Dodging around Bumblebee, I called back over my shoulder. "Oh! That's my mom calling, I better go."
"y/n!" Bee hissed after me angrily but did not move.
Smirking, I rounded the corner around the old dinner. I knew Bee would not dare follow me or raise his voice for risk of being caught by my mom.
"Y/N!" Mom called again. She was standing in front of...a rumbling black Saab. Its engine purred softly as it waited to race down the road.
"Oh,...it's fixed..." I thought aloud, my heart falling.
"Yes!" Walking up to me Mom smiled and squeezed my shoulder. "You sure worked wonders on her Denny!" she looked gratefully past me at the man. "Here I thought it would take days and it only took you hours. You sure are a mechanic whiz."
Chuckling Denny rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, I'm glad it only needed some transmission fluid and a small patch on that leak."
"Wait, the car is fixed?" Rusty spoke up as he stepped out from the bushes and stood by his dad's side. He looked at his dad questioningly. "Does this mean they are leaving?"
"Well, I'd assume so son," Denny put a hand on his son's shoulder. "They do have a house to move into after all."
"Yes," an emotion flickered across Mom's face. But it was too quick for me to identify it. She smiled brightly. "It is only an hour's drive too!"
We were leaving....
these three words filled my head...t
These words stayed in my head as I watched my mom pack our supplies back into the saab.........we are leaving ...
This thought stayed in my head as my mom tried to pay Denny though he refused."You're leaving," Rusty spoke softly. He and I stood outside the saab.
"Yeah," Kicking at the ground, I felt a wetness in my eyes. "Say...say goodbye to the..." I glanced at my mom and Denny who stood a few feet away. "Say goodbye to your friends for me, okay?"
The boy nodded. His face was downcast. "They'll miss you," he whispered..."we'll all miss you..."
A strong emotion overcame me. Reaching forward I hugged Rusty. He was like the brother I never had-the best friend I longed for–even though I had only met him less than trinity-six hours ago.
"I'll miss you all too," I said, rubbing my nose as I pulled away from him. Opening the passenger door to the car I climbed inside and shut the door. I rolled the window down as I looked at the boy. "It was nice having friends..."
"Well you still do," Rusty smiled. He rubbed his eyes.
There was a slam as my mother climbed into the car. The car pulled forward and down the dirt path-out of the junkyard.
Rusty ran up to the entrance of the junkyard. He stood by Denny's side, both of them waving as he yelled. "BYE Y/N!!! DON'T FORGET TO COME VISIT!!!"
Tears streamed down my face as I waved, "WE WILL!!!"
I Watched as Rusty continued to wave and wave...there was a glimpse of yellow in one of the trees and I realized the autobots were watching.
"Bye, Bee, Strongarm, Sideswipe and Fix-it..." I whispered as the junkyard disappeared out of sight. Looking forward, I leaned back in my seat. "I won't forget you."
"Aw, don't worry honey," My mom spoke up startling me. She patted me on the leg. "We'll go visit Denny...and Rusty-I promise."
