IVY WAS LAYING ON HER ROOM FLOOR, deep in thought when she heard a knock on the door. She was gripping her teddy bear in her hands as her legs were perched on the couch. Feeling a sense of restlessness creeping over her, Ivy found herself growing increasingly bored within the confines of the castle walls.

It was a feeling she had hoped to leave behind in the sterile corridors of the asylum, but here it was, lingering like an unwelcome guest in the lavish chamber. Ivy couldn't help but reflect on her time in the asylum. Surrounded by the constant chaos and uncertainty of that place, she had never known a moment's peace. Yet, somehow, it was here, in the quiet solitude of her own chamber, that she felt the weight of boredom pressing down upon her.

"Come in," she called, her voice normal, knowing that whoever was on the other side would be able to hear her.

"My lady," a soft and melodic voice responded and Ivy whipped her head toward the newcomer.

"Wow, you look like a cute doll," Ivy smiled brightly as she took in her appearance. The girl looked like she was about 13 or 14. With her piercing gaze and delicate features, she seemed almost otherworldly. "Scary cute doll."

The girl seemed taken aback by her words. And yet, beneath the surface, Ivy sensed something else in her eyes—a glimmer of curiosity, perhaps, or even a hint of amusement.  "My name is Jane. I'm here at the request of Master Aro," she replied and Ivy giggled.

"Master Aro? Does he make you call him that?" she asked, grinning.

"He would like to see you in his office," she said, ignoring Ivy's question.

Ivy perked as soon as she heard her words, excited to hear that he wanted to see her. She got up from the floor. "Right now?"

"Yes, right now. I will take you to him," she replied and Ivy grinned.

"Okay, I'm ready," she said and started following Jane. The two of them were walking side by side in the empty halls of the castle, Jane directing them where they were heading.

"I saw you in the throne room," Ivy tilted her head when she realized why the girl looked so familiar. "Was the brunette boy your brother?"

Jane placed her hands behind her back. "Yes. Alec. He's my twin."

"Cool. I don't have any siblings," she revealed. "You're quite young. Are there other vampires here as young as you?"

"No, my lady. My brother and I are the only ones," she explained.

"Cool," Ivy said, not knowing what else to say. "And do you like it here?" she asked curiously. Jane was the third vampire she had actually talked to.
