Mad-Eye walk to the board limping.
"Alastor Moody, or as you call me Mad-Eye Moody," He said writing his name on the board.
"Ministry malcontent. And your new defence against the dark arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" He asked.
No one raised their hand as they sat there silently in their seats.
"When it comes to the dark arts, I believe in a practical approach. But first, which of you can tell me how many unforgivable curses there are?" He taught.
Hermione and Hesperia raised their hands at the same time and Mad-Eye called them out to answer it together.
"Three Sir," they spoke together immediately without hesitation.
The way they answer together sends shiver down to everyone's spine.
"And they are so named?," Mad-Eye questioned.
"Because they are unforgivable. Use any of them will," The two answered again.
"Will earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban, correct," Mad-Eye finished.
Mad-Eye turn to the board to write as he talk.
"Now the ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do. I say different! You need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared, you need to find somewhere else to put your chewing gum other than the underside of your desk Mr Finnigan!," Mad-Eye said annoyed.
All of the students look at Seamus who look surprised and annoyed. Hesperia smiles softly shaking her head.
"Aw no way, the old codger can see out the back of his head," Seamus groan.
Mad-Eye threw the chalk in anger for being called 'the old codger' and because he was annoyed. Seamus dodge the chalk like the other student behind him.
"So, which curse shall we see first?," Mad-Eye ask grumbling.
No one raised their hands or even spoke out to answer. They were silent with cautious and wary of the ex-auror.
"WEASLEY!," Mad-Eye called out.
Ron was scared that he would jump up to stand. Hermione held her sister's hand when she saw her flinch. Mad-Eye also notice this and wondered why the Girl-Who-Lived flinch when he yelled. He saw that kind of flinch involved with violence that would bring bad memories and habits from being mistreated.
"Give us a curse," Mad-Eye demand.
Ron tried to avoid eye contact with the man.
"Well, my dad did tell me about one. The Imperious Curse," Ron spoke.
"Ahhh yes, your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why," Mad-Eye said, grumbling.
He limps walk to the desk of jars with either insects or with bugs and a spider. He pops the cover of the jar that traps the spider inside and brings the spider in his hand.
"Hello. Ugly little beauty," Mad-Eye grumbles a compliment.
Hesperia can't help, but feel curious and Mad-Eye saw this. His lips quirk up with interest. Mad-Eye enlarges the spider and uses his wand to send the spider around the class. The spider landed in front of Dean then went onto Crabbe's head. Some of the children giggle or chuckle.
"Don't worry. Completely harmless," Mad-Eye said blankly.
It then went onto one of the Parvati twins, Patil. Mad-Eye cackles while Hesperia felt sympathy for the girl as she hated giant spiders and the other students gasped. Patil likes smaller ones she didn't mind, but a giant one was out of the question.
"But if she bites... she's lethal!," Mad-Eye said with laughter.
Draco laughs out loud over the silence. Mad-Eye turn sharply at Draco.
"What are you laughing at?," Mad-Eye scowl.
He sends the spider on Draco's face. Hesperia bit her bottom lip to stop herself from laughing. Goyle tries to get it off, but doesn't want to hit Draco in the face when he is slapping the air near the spider. The spider then goes on top of Ron's head.
"Talented isn't she? What shall I have her do next? Jump out the window? Drown herself?," Mad-Eye listed.
The spider was above the bucket of water wriggling in fright. Mad-Eye then brings the spider back to his hand.
"Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only did you-know-whose's bidding under the influence of the imperious curse. But here's the rub, how do we sort out the liars?," Mad-Eye said looking around.
"Another.... another... Come on come on. Longbottom is it?," Mad-Eye asked.
Neville nod and knew was going to be asked next. Hesperia's magic flow to Neville comforting him and Neville connect his magic with his godsister's. Hesperia's magic wrapped around him with a comforting blanket.
"Up," Mad-Eye instructed.
Neville stood only paying attention to the spider.
"Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for herbology," Mad-Eye comment.
"There's the cruciatus curse," Neville state.
"Correct! Correct! come come. Particularly nasty. The torture curse. Crucio!," Mad-Eye casted the spell.
The spider squeals in pain. Neville started to feel uncomfortable with the scream. He was getting flashbacks from that night. Hesperia slammed her hand to the desk. Hermione knew that was the last step of Hesperia's patient ended.
"Stop! Stop It! Can't you see it's bothering him, stop it!," Hermione yelled.
Mad-Eye stops, Neville was disturb. Mad-Eye picks up the spider which is still making noise. Hesperia walked up in front of the class and took Neville to her seat. Hesperia whispers comforting words to him. Neville relaxes against his godsister's embrace and warmth around him.
Mad-Eye moves to Hermione's desk and places the spider on her book. Hesperia's eyes glow at Mad-Eye as she feels Hermione close to crying.
"Perhaps you could give us the last unforgivable curse Miss Granger," Mad-Eye spoke.
Hermione shakes her head. Mad-Eye hum and shivers when the room grows cold.
"That is enough, the last curse is the killing curse. The Avada Kadevra curse," Hesperia said coldly and many could hear the anger in her voice and in her glowing eyes.
The bell rang and Hesperia quickly took her siblings out of the room. Everyone else follows down the hall. Hesperia stood next to Neville holding his hand when he came to a stop staring at the window of a woman and a single rain drop slid down as if the woman was crying.
"Nev," Hesperia whispered.
Hesperia reacted on instinct and caught Mad-Eye's wrist gripping it. Mad-Eye flinch at such strength and power the young witch hold.
"Son. You alright?," Mad-Eye asked.
Neville turns and nods to Mad-Eye. He softly touches Hesperia's gripping hand around Mad-Eye's wrist. Hesperia blink twice and let go of the hand, and into Neville's hand.
"Come on, we'll have a cup of tea. I want to show you something," Mad-Eye instructed.
Hesperia follows behind and stands outside making sure Neville knows she will not leave him alone when he comes out. Neville loved that about his godsister and Mad-Eye found that amusing.
It took a few minutes and Neville came out of the room. Neville smiles softly at Hesperia who smiles back with warmth. Hesperia glares darkly at Mad-Eye who flinch when the doors close. The two godsiblings left to go to the Goblet Room where the others were.
