Poem #12

A fire burns deep within the forest
The red ember's pulse with life
Joyful echoes bounce off the trees

We float atop the mysterious water
Straining to see into the depths
Hoping to find what secrets hide

I stand right next to you
But you are looking away
Why do I reach out to you

You are the elusive smoke
Impossible to grab
And yet beautiful to look at

Why do these flames taunt me so
Why am I not able to let you go.
